Macaulay Culkin has been celebrating turning 40, a fact that has stunned and amazed many onlookers who remember him from all the way back to his starring turns in the iconic Home Alone movies.
Alongside tributes from celebrity pals, Culkin took to social media to post a hilarious birthday update, regarding his age and the reflective passing of years at an increasingly fast pace.
"Hey guys, wanna feel old? I'm 40. You're welcome." Culkin wrote on Twitter in an immensely popular message that has accrued more than 1.8m likes and nearly 350k retweets at the time of writing.
"It's my gift to the world: I make people feel old. I'm no longer a kid, that's my job." He added in a follow up tweet.
And fans were stunned and delighted in equal measure at Culkin's revealtion.
"Please post your skincare routine," actress Kat Dennings wrote.
Although one commenter said the news actually made them feel younger.
"Happy birthday! This actually makes me feel a little younger, because I'm only 44 and I thought for sure I was a lot older than you."
Another added a humorous reference to an incredibly popular Home Alone gif:
"I wish there was a GIF reaction for this, such as a character in a movie slapping their hands to their face and expressing shock and surprise. Oh well." They wrote.
Culkin later added of turning 40:
"Since I'm 40 I think it's about time to start my midlife crisis. I'm thinking of picking up surfing. Do you all have any suggestions?"
He then added, "Do any of you have photoshop skill? Can you put my head on a surfer so I can get an idea of how cool I'd look?"
Earlier this year, it was announced that Macaulay Culkin would be joining the cast of American Horror Story for its upcoming 10th season.
