Macaulay Culkin has finally been honored on the Hollywood Walk of Fame!
On Friday (December 1), the beloved Home Alone star was finally recognized for his contributions to the entertainment industry in a ceremony that was the 43-year-old actor accompanied by his fiancée, Brenda Song, their two children, and former co-stars Catherine O'Hara and Natasha Lyonne.
During the ceremony, Song could be seen wiping tears from her eyes as Culkin told the crowd: "I'd like to thank Brenda. You're absolutely everything. You're the best person I've ever known. And after the birth of our two boys, you've become one of my three favorite people."
After the emotional videos and photos hit social media, it wasn't long before Culkin's fans spoke out about their joy at seeing the actor being recognized for his talents and looking so happy with his family at his side.
With many of us celebrating the holiday season each year by watching Home Alone on repeat, it can often feel like we've watched the former child star grow up with us over the last 33 years. Therefore, it was only expected that many of his fans had an emotional response to the Walk of Fame ceremony - with some even being brought to tears.
Taking to X (formerly known as Twitter) to express their joy, one person wrote: "How great is it to see Macaulay Culkin looking this healthy, feeling this happy and getting all the love?"
A second added: "Came to say I'm very happy for Macaulay Culkin. Not just for receiving a star but he looks so much better...healthy & happy! Congratulations! Well deserved!"
"Although he’s remembered for his child star films, the stuff he did later on - American Horror Story and such - was phenomenal," a third wrote. "Wasn’t just a child actor, Macaulay Culkin is extremely talented. Great to see him healthy and happy these days!"
"Damn Macaulay Culkin looking happy and healthy brings a tear to my eye," added a fourth X user, with a fifth tweeting: "Currently crying again because I am so happy for Macaulay Culkin"
"Spending my Saturday morning crying at all these Macaulay Culkin #HollywoodWalkofFame star videos," wrote another.
A former child star, Culkin has been in the public eye for decades. This has resulted in some of his lowest moments making headlines around the world - from his 2004 arrest for possession of marijuana and a controlled substance without a prescription to his failed teen marriage to actress Rachel Miner back in the 90s.
Speaking to The Guardian in 2016, Culkin revealed how he attempted to actively leave fame behind.
"I don’t just turn my back, I actively don’t want it [fame]," he said. "The paps go after me because I don’t whore myself out"
When asked why people continued to have an obsession with him, he said: "I have no idea. I was thinking about this the other day – I’d crossed the wrong street, picked up a tail, suddenly there’s a crush of 20 paparazzi. Then people with cameraphones get involved. I don’t think I’m worthy of that."
Fortunately for his fans, Culkin never stepped away completely and has starred in more roles in the last few years - such as shows like American Horror Story and The Righteous Gemstones, and the 2019 movie Changeland - where he starred alongside Song.
