Macaulay Culkin is set to be honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

The 43-year-old former child star became a household name when he starred in 1990's Home Alone movie about an eight-year-old boy who is mistakenly left home alone and is forced to defend his home against a couple of burglars.

While his career has noticeably quietened down since his youth, Culkin is nothing short of an icon. As such, he will be honored with the 2,765th star on Los Angeles's Hollywood Walk of Fame.

To mark the occasion there will be a ceremony on December 1, with Catherine O’Hara and Natasha Lyonne set to speak at the event.

Ana Martinez, Producer of the Hollywood Walk of Fame, said in a statement: “Macaulay Culkin has been a staple in pop culture for decades. He has an extensive trajectory of work but his movie, Home Alone is one of the most beloved holiday movies known the world over.

"How fitting that Catherine O’Hara who played Macaulay’s mother in the film is reuniting with her movie son and will be speaking at the ceremony!”

Culkin decided to take a break from his acting career when he was a teenager. By that time, he'd already appeared in 13 movies and five TV shows.

In the mid 2000s, he appeared in Robot Chicken and Will & Grace.

Last year, he was cast in three TV series: The Righteous Gemstones, Entergalactic and The Paloni Show! Halloween Special!

Fans have since taken to social media to share their thoughts on the honor, with some expressing surprise that he didn't already have a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

One remarked: "Thought he had one??? He is an iconic child actor that made our childhood great! I’m [surprised]."

Another added: "Deserved. He is a holiday icon for the past, present and future."

A third commented: "He gave us one of the best movie for our childhood, i'm happy for him."

A fourth fan penned: "Jesus that took forever. He was in a lot of movies and shaped a lot of childhoods. He should [have] gotten a star a long time ago."
