For a lot of people in their mid-late twenties, Macaulay Culkin is something of a legend. The child star, who rose to fame off of the back of the legendary Home Alone movies, will always hold a place in our hearts - no matter what travails and turmoils he has experienced in later life.
Of course - as everyone knows - despite his fame and fortune, Culkin has found growing up to be very difficult. Struggles with substance abuse and mental health issues have meant that, since he starred in the Home Alone franchise, not much has been seen from the actor, apart from a series of different scandals in the tabloid papers.
But, things seem to be turning around for the 37-year-old, with him looking much healthier and happier than previously. Such is his rise to being a fully-fledged adult, he has now downloaded Twitter and set about making himself at home.
On Sunday night, Culkin took to the website to live tweet the Oscars and it could be argued that it was some of his finest work since he starred in Home Alone.
He made sure to shout out the Emoji movie.
And then revealed what he would be doing instead of going to the Oscars, which included playing the guitar and "Playing with myself" (not like that!).
The actor also held nothing back when it came to the #MeToo movement, with him firing shots in the direction of both Harvey Weinstein and Kevin Spacey.
Then he decided to go in on this year's nominees.
Despite this, he did lend his creative mind to the sequel of the Emoji Movie.
But, like all good people, Culkin was also happy to rinse himself repeatedly.
As said, it seems like Macaulay Culkin certainly seems to have turned a corner from being the reclusive and enigmatic figure that he was previously. Despite various reports about his personal life at the time, Culkin is keen to refute some of the claims that were being made against him.
“Of course, when silly stuff is going on – but no, I was not pounding six grand of heroin every month or whatever. The thing that bugged me was tabloids wrapping it all in this weird guise of concern. No, you’re trying to shift papers.”
Now in his late 30s, he claims that he is now at peace and comfortable in the skin he is in.
“Actually, I’m very much at peace lately. I can debate with people, and my heart rate never changes.”
“From me. I try to figure out what makes me happy – and not in a superficial way. I keep my soul fit," he said.
"I was raised Catholic, so there’s a lot of guilt. We’re born with original sin. Since I was told that, I’ve been trying to come up with even more original sins, that’ll really blow my priest away at confession. Like, here’s one you haven’t heard – it involves a pitching wedge, a donkey and a bucket of ice,” joked the 37-year-old.
Hopefully Culkin will continue to use Twitter to spread his bizarre sense of humour. In a platform which often full of hatred and political debate, it's good to have people like him on their to keep the peace.
