People are just finding out what Macaulay Culkin's real voice sounds like - and let's just say, they're a little caught off guard.
On December 1, the 43-year-old actor, best known for his role in the Home Alone franchise when he was a child, appeared on Hollywood Boulevard to be honored with one of the most prestigious awards an entertainer can receive: a star on the iconic Walk of Fame.
The star was joined by his fiancée, Brenda Song, their two children, and former co-stars Catherine O'Hara and Natasha Lyonne to mark the momentous occasion.
Culkin portrayed the leading role of Kevin McCallister in the Home Alone franchise, starting with the iconic film in 1990 and its sequel in 1992, Home Alone 2: Lost In New York, alongside O'Hara who played his mother Kate.
Fans were giddy with excitement seeing the reunion between the two actors, and when the 69-year-old gave her speech, there wasn't a dry eye in the house.
"Home Alone was, is, and always will be a beloved global sensation... the reason families all over the world can't let a year go by without watching and loving Home Alone together is because of Macaulay Culkin," she said to those in attendance.
Calling Culkin's performance "perfect", she also went on to credit his work ethic: "I know you worked really hard, I know you did, but you made acting look like the most natural thing in the world to do."
"Macaulay, congratulations," she said. "You so deserve your star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. And thank you for including me, your fake mom who left you home alone not once but twice, to share in this happy occasion.
"I'm so proud of you," she added.
And things only got more emotional as Culkin took to the podium and thanked his wife for her support throughout their relationship.
The pair started dating in 2017 and welcomed their first child in April 2021. They then welcomed their second child earlier this year.
"I'd like to thank Brenda. You're absolutely everything," he said while standing at the podium. "You're the best person I've ever known. And after the birth of our two boys, you've become one of my three favorite people."
He continued, speaking directly to Song: "You are absolutely everything. You're my champion. You're the only person happier for me today than I am. You're not only the best woman I've ever known, you're the best person I've ever known. You've given me just all my purpose. You've given me family."
While the speech was heartwarming, some fans couldn't help but direct their focus to something else entirely: Culkin's voice.
Taking to Twitter, better known now as X, some thought it was uncanny how much he and his brother Kieran sounded alike.
"Its so messed up that macaulay and kieren culkin have the same voice," wrote one user while another added: "Macaulay Culkin's voice sounds *exactly* like Kieran's. They have such similar mannerisms too."
Others couldn't help but express their confusion as they hadn't heard what the actor sounded like in years.
"I saw a video of Macaulay Culkin talking getting his star at the Walk of Fame and I’m sitting here like I’ve never heard his adult voice. Like I’ve never heard him talk before outside the movies he was in as a kid. That’s crazy," this user commented.
And this user stated: "Idk what i thought Macaulay Culkin’s voice was gonna sound like but it def wasn’t that."
This social media user also added: "Okay but why was Macaulay Culkin’s voice deeper as a child then as a full grown man??" (sic)
Despite the confusion, it seems as though everyone's really glad that the star has been recognized for his contribution to the entertainment industry, with many adding that it is long overdue.
