In the Netflix film Bird Box, mysterious creatures attack humanity, plunging the world into chaos. The demons manifest themselves as your greatest fear, and everyone who sees them commits suicide. With hoards of people violently killing themselves, the survivors huddle indoors, only venturing outside with the safety of a blindfold.
The post-apocalyptic thriller stars Sandra Bullock, John Malkovich and Colson Baker, aka Machine Gun Kelly. If Kells takes his blindfold off, I think we all know what he'd see: the one-time Oscar-winner and 15-time Grammy-winner, who quit drugs and Remy Martin but still starts shit like some 46-year-old skinny Cartman, Eminem.
This year the two white, heavily tattooed rappers faced off in the most macho way possible: reciting poems about each other. If you thought their savage feud was over, think again! Machine Gun Kelly fired one last shot at Marshall Mathers before the end of 2018.
On Instagram, the 28-year-old re-shared his Rap Devil video, writing "machinegunkellyjust to piss y’all off one more time before the years over. ??? y’all still BIG mad ???♂️ fuck rap god im the rap devil ? goodbye 2018."
In case you don't recall what this beef was all about: In 2012, Kelly called Eminem's daughter, Hailey, "hot as f***." A charming compliment to give any woman! However, at the time MGK was 21, and Hailey was 16. Oof.
MGK apologized to Eminem's team privately, but refused to do so publicly. He claims that as a result, Marshall Mathers held a grudge, and banned him from the Shade 45 radio station. Irritated, he sneak-dissed Eminem on a few songs. "To remind y'all you just rap, you're not God," he rapped. "I’m my favorite rapper alive since my favorite rapper banned me from Shade 45."
On his surprise album, Kamikaze, Slim Shady called out MGK by name on Not Alike: "If you wanna come at me with a sub, Machine Gun / And I'm talkin' to you, but you already know who the fuck you are, Kelly/R. Kelly / I don't use sublims and sure as fuck don't sneak-diss / But keep commenting on my daughter Hailie... Let me put a fuckin' silencer on this little / non-threatening blond fairy cornball takin' shots at me."
Machine Gun Kelly fired back with Rap Devil, targeting Eminem's age, grumpy attitude and 'weird beard':"Somebody help your mans up / Knees weak of old age, the real Slim Shady can't stand up!" raps MGK. "We know you get nervous, Rabbit, I see Momma's spaghetti all over your sweater/ I wish you would lose yourself on the records / That you made a decade ago, they were better."
Eminem responded to Colson with the blistering track, Killshot. Arguably, Rap Devil had a catchier melody, but Killshot had better rhymes:
"So before you die let's see who can out-petty who / With your corny lines (Slim, you're old) – ow, Kelly, ooh/ But I'm 45 and I'm still outselling you... You're the whack me, it's funny but so true / I'd rather be 80-year-old me than 20-year-old you... This is it, as big as you're gonna get, so enjoy it / Had to give you a career to destroy it!"
So, who won the beef between Machine Gun Kelly and Eminem? They both did. On YouTube, Rap Devil has 180 million views, and Killshot has 216 million. (Also, a ton of people watched Bird Box - wonder if Marshall was one of them?)
