Madonna's fans may be used to the music icon pushing the envelope and reinventing herself, but the singer's latest video has sparked some concern from even her most devoted followers.
The 64-year-old 'Like A Virgin' singer has made a career from her headline-hitting stunts, but her recent social media activity is perhaps not landing like she was hoping.
On Thursday (November 3), Madonna took to Instagram to share a video with her 18.6 million followers, in which, she can be seen lip-syncing to rapper Baby Keem's 'vent'.
Staring directly into the camera lens, Madonna mouths the words: "Have you ever been punched in your mother****in' face? What you say? Oh, you haven't? Alright, wait, b***h."
In the video, the 'Material Girl' star can be seen staring menacingly down the lens, sporting red braids and blonde eyebrows, and wearing a sheer top, black bra, black jeans, and a corset.
After receiving more than 8 million views, fans flocked to the comments section to voice their concern for their idol.
One fan wrote: "You where my idol growing up. I used to love your music and creativity, please stop with these weird reels! [It’s] getting dark and concerning now."
"I wish you could see yourself through the eyes of others. So sad what you’ve become," another person commented.
A third wrote: "I’ve been a huge fan for most of my life, so it’s really sad (and disturbing) to watch the decline of Madonna. This might be funny for a kid’s [TikTok], but c’mon?! I think you need to stop hanging out with kids and surround yourself with other true icons… so you can remember who you used to be and who you really are. A legend… not an idiotic try hard."
"What happened to her? She doesn’t even look like Madonna," another fan asked. "Whatever happen [sic] to embracing your age and aging with grace?"
A fifth commented: "I used to love you and admire you. Seeing you like this is truly concerning. It’s sad that the people around you are not intervening and help you. How’s that possible?"
Another fan stressed: "You can remain disruptive without acting foolish."
Others were quick to defend the singer, with one person writing: "I love all these comments about 'what happened to Madonna'... You mean the woman who has always pushed the envelop, challenged the status quo, who has been criticized her entire career for not fitting into a societally conditioned box.
"Y'all clearly don't f***ing know Madonna. She's an artist, not your f***ing Barbie Doll."
This recent video also comes after Madonna posted some very racy images to her Instagram Story, which - once again - got people talking.
