The 39-year-old, best known for his breakout role in Malcolm in the Middle, revealed he's been struggling during a challenging chapter in his life.

He took to X (formerly Twitter) on Monday to share a deeply personal update, which read: “If I’m being 100% honest … Mentally/emotionally I may be at a new low. Just wanted to say it out loud.”

While he didn’t elaborate on the exact reasons behind the post, fans rallied behind the star and offered words of encouragement.

One user said: "I respect this. As a man, it’s hard to admit when you’re struggling. I hope he finds the support he needs," while another shared: "Hate seeing anyone drained like this tbh. u r not alone, Frankie."

YouTuber Mr Beast also commented under Muniz's post: "Been there, it will fade and make the highs feel that much better."

The actor-turned-racecar driver has faced a series of challenges since leaping into professional racing.

Muniz began racing full-time in 2023 and currently drives in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series for Reaume Brothers Racing. But his debut season has been far from easy.

Earlier this month, he was involved in a collision when another driver struck his truck during a race. More recently, during a race in Rockingham, North Carolina, a critical mechanical failure caused his power steering line to burst, making it nearly impossible for him to control the vehicle.

“That was the hardest thing I’ve ever done in my life,” he said following the race. “My power steering line burst,” he explained, adding that the ordeal “ripped a hole” in his hand “just trying to hold onto it.” Frustrated and disheartened, Muniz admitted: “I’m just oddly cursed or something.”

Trying to stay upbeat, he reflected on the constant misfortune: “I’m trying to think what I’m going to tweet, because how many times can I say, ‘Wow, I got bad luck; Wow I got bad luck.’ My wife doesn’t believe me anymore.

"She’s like - you know, I love my wife and she’s super supportive - but she’s like, ‘Maybe it’s you, like maybe you’re just not good.’ I’m like, I can’t help that. You know what I mean?” he continued. “So I hope people see that. I mean, people are going to say what they do, but you know we’re trying really hard.”

Despite the recent setbacks, Muniz is also juggling a return to the screen, reprising his iconic role in the upcoming Malcolm in the Middle revival.

The new storyline sees Malcolm navigating family chaos once again, this time after being roped into attending Hal and Lois’ 40th wedding anniversary with his daughters in tow.

During an Instagram Live session, the star offered fans a sneak peek into the four-episode special that reunites him with co-stars Bryan Cranston and Jane Kaczmarek.

“It’s been oddly - I don’t know how to explain it. I haven’t seen everybody in, like, 20 years, but it’s as if no time went by, like you know, just right back to being comfortable in that world with everybody, and it has been going really really well,” he shared, per The New York Post.

He praised the production for being supportive of his dual commitments: “Everybody has been very accommodating with all the stuff that I’ve got going on with the racing.

“I just wanted to kind of come on here and just share the fact that I’m working really hard,” he added. “You know, I’m trying to be the best actor I can be, but also the best race car driver, and that’s my focus every time I’m here at the track.”

Disney+ hasn’t confirmed a release date for the new episodes of Malcolm in the Middle.
