Margot Robbie has revealed that she needed a little liquid confidence to tackle one of the most risqué scenes while filming of The Wolf of Wall Street.

The actress recently revealed that tequila was her secret weapon to combat nerves before baring all on screen.

Robbie, 32, confessed her pre-scene jitters during a recording for BAFTA: A Life In Pictures. Fans of the 2013 movie may remember that Robbie had to film a scene where she was left with nothing but a pair of stockings and heels, which understandably left her feeling quite nervous.

"I’m not going to lie, I had a couple of shots of tequila before that scene because I was nervous – very, very nervous," Robbie admitted.

It may seem surprising now, considering the film's overwhelming success, but at the time, Robbie didn't think she'd be the focus of attention. “Honestly, I know it sounds silly now, knowing how big the movie became, at the time I thought, ‘No one is going to notice me in this film.’ It kind of doesn’t matter what I do in this film because everyone is going to be focused on Leo and everything," she revealed.

At only 22, Robbie portrayed Naomi Lapaglia, the wife of Leonardo DiCaprio's character Jordan Belfort, in the 2013 blockbuster. In a 2014 interview with The Telegraph, she shared that director Martin Scorsese had offered to tone down her nude scenes. However, Robbie firmly believed that nudity was integral to her role.

"I think it's disgusting when someone would have got naked in real life, in the film they conveniently leave their bra on, or hold up the bed sheet,” she argued. "The whole point of Naomi is that her body is her only form of currency in this world... She has to be naked."

Despite her initial anxieties, The Wolf of Wall Street launched Robbie's career into the Hollywood elite. Still, as she recently confessed to Vanity Fair, she wasn't ready for the intense scrutiny that fame brought.

"Something was happening in those early stages and it was all pretty awful, and I remember saying to my mom, ‘I don’t think I want to do this,’” Robbie confessed. Her mother's response? A sobering, "Darling, I think it’s too late not to."

Since then, Robbie has learned to navigate the pitfalls of fame with grace and resilience. She candidly admits: “I know how to go through airports, and now I know who’s trying to f*** me over in what ways.”

Robbie, if it was me, I'd have needed the entire bottle!
