Whether you've seen her in the Wolf of Wall Street, Suicide Squad or even I, Tonya, there's no doubting that Margot Robbie is one of the finest up-and-coming actresses around today. The 28-year-old Australian has already been nominated for Best Actress for her role in I, Tonya where she played infamous figure skater Tonya Harding, and there's no doubt there will be more nominations - and wins - to come.

But being an actress of that calibre is hard work. There's plenty of long shoots, public appearances and interviews, but Margot Robbie does a lot of hard work behind the scenes to ensure her body is in tip-top shape as she embarks on several demanding projects.

For that to be a reality, Robbie needs a dieting and fitness regime that not only does the job of helping her to stay trim, but work for her as well, and that's where personal trainer David Higgins comes in. The fitness expert, who's also worked with Naomi Campbell and Claudia Schiffer, says there's one oft-overlooked key to losing weight: skipping breakfast.

"Sometimes you don't need to have breakfast," he explains. "The whole 'breakfast is the most important meal of the day' thing is a 1940s marketing campaign to sell eggs. That's what we've all been raised to believe."

Instead of wasting vital calories on eggs or pancakes or anything like that, Higgins instead recommends the fasting method, where you don't eat for around 16 hours of the day. In practice, that means skipping breakfast, eating lunch at around noon, and having your final meal at around eight o'clock.

"You're not going to be consuming as much because you don't have the time to consume it. But then you also do allow your body that time to recover and digest and not have to overwork with your metabolism."

But Margot Robbie doesn't necessarily do this 24/7, 365 days of the year - instead, she prefers to play it fast and loose until she's preparing for a role or a red carpet event. "I'm not good at doing moderation," she revealed to Emirates Woman.

"I get miserable if I don't eat. I can't just have a salad every day and a half a glass of wine every second day. I can't do it... I don't have a very good diet. I love beer, fries, burgers, but if I have to get into a bikini then I'll eat carrot sticks for three days. I'm one extreme or the other."

When she's prepping for a new role or undergoing some clean eating, Margot Robbie usually has something like lemon chicken or rice for lunch, though she'll swap it out for mackerel salad with tomatoes and cucumber if she's feeling fancy.

For dinner, it's between a tuna steak with sweet potato, or a veggie hot pot with rice noodles. It's all fairly delicious sounding, but for Margot Robbie, it's vital to help her maintain that figure.
