Mariah Carey is being sued by her sister for "emotional distress".
Alison Carey has filed the lawsuit following the release of the star's memoir, The Meaning of Mariah Carey.
In the lawsuit, which was filed in New York on Monday (February 1) and obtained by PEOPLE, Alison 59, is seeking $1.25 million in damages following the "heartless, vicious [and] vindictive" stories shared in the 50-year-old We Belong Together singer's tell-all book.
As per the outlet, the suit states that Alison has reverted back to her days of "alcohol abuse" and has become "uncharacteristically tearful" following the memoir's release.
In the book, Mariah writer that her older sister gave her Valium, tried to "pimp her out and threw a cup of boiling hot tea on her" .
However, Alison argues in the court document that the singer "presented no evidence to substantiate" the allegations.
"[Carey] also callously dismisses [Alison] as her 'ex' sister," the document read. "But instead of saying no more about her, [Carey] used her book to humiliate and embarrass plaintiff as stories about the memoir appeared in newspapers around the world, on TV and across the Internet, most of them with headlines repeating the defendant's allegations — all of them published without giving [Alison] any opportunity to respond."
The court summons also reveals that Alison has received a diagnosis for PTSD, anxiety and depression and has sought therapy to come to terms with "the horrific abuse" she endured as a youngster.
Alison claims she was forced to attend "terrifying middle-of-the-night satanic worship meetings" by her mother.
The Grammy winner's sister also claim that Mariah used her "status as a public figure to attack her" by creating "sensational" headlines to promote her book.
"Already struggling with the unspeakable trauma of her childhood and having her own children abandon her, she has become severely depressed and uncharacteristically tearful since the publication of defendant's book and now struggles, after a long time clean, with alcohol abuse," the suit reads.
Furthermore, according to the documents, Mariah's attorney was sent an offer to settle but "no response has been received."
"Plaintiff will demand an amount no less than $1.25 million compensation for the intentional infliction of immense emotional distress caused by defendant's heartless, vicious, vindictive, despicable and totally unnecessary public humiliation of defendant's already profoundly damaged older sister," the document concluded.
