The businesswoman, 83, had traveled to Rome over Thanksgiving to visit the famous 15th-Century chapel along with her family for a "bucket list" memory.

The Sistine Chapel is located in the Apostolic Palace, the pope's official residence in Vatican City.

Many tourists flock to visit the chapel, thanks largely to the incredible frescoes that line the interior, including the famous Sistine Chapel ceiling which was painted by Michelangelo.

However, when Martha shared some snaps of her visit, her actions didn't go down well at all with her followers.

She captioned the post: "Just a few iPhone photos of what we saw during our quiet hour in the Sistine chapel!

"I love the painting and the biblical history that is portrayed in the Chapel This should definitely be on your bucket list."

She shared a series of photos she'd taken of the famous paintings, but fans were quick to criticize her in the comments.

Why? Well, photography is banned inside the chapel in order to protect the centuries-old paintwork from fading so that future generations can enjoy it, too.

They commented: "Martha, you a baddie! You can’t take pictures in there," and: "I’m surprised they let you take pictures. We were forbidden."

Others added: "So she’s allowed to take photos in there but regular people aren’t? That’s kind of bulls**t," and: "Why is that they let you take pictures? It’s just wrong!"

Followers also wrote: "You are not supposed to take pictures in the Sistine Chapel! Gosh Martha," and: "I guess the guards let celebrities take pics then."

One disgruntled viewer commented: "The rules of NO PICTURES should apply to everyone. Those flashes can ruin the paintings. Please abide by the rules so the next generation can see it too. IJS [I'm just saying]."

Martha replied to assure them: "we used no flashes Just our Apple iPhone 16 plus max very good camera."

One follower wrote: "Wow! My husband and I were there a few weeks ago and all tourists were told we were not allowed to take photos in the Sistine Chapel. I love Martha but this is a prime example of the privileged and wealthy having special treatment. Very disappointing."

Martha responded by writing: "it is not a special privilege we made a donation for the treatment we received."

As well as her trip to the Sistine Chapel, Martha shared several other sights she'd seen on her vacation, including the Coliseum, the Trevi Fountain, and the dome of St. Peter’s Basilica.
