Matt Lucas has responded to Millie Bobby Brown for comments he made about her appearance.

This week, Millie Bobby Brown, renowned for her role as Eleven in Stranger Things, publicly addressed recent criticisms concerning her appearance, labeling such scrutiny as "bullying" and asserting her right to mature without public disparagement.

The 21-year-old actress, who entered the entertainment industry at the tender age of 10, has grown up under the watchful eyes of the public.

This prolonged exposure has subjected her to ongoing commentary about her evolving look. In a candid video shared on her Instagram account, Brown expressed her frustration over the relentless focus on her physical transformation.

She stated, "I grew up in front of the world, and for some reason, people can’t seem to grow with me. Instead, they act like I’m supposed to stay frozen in time, like I should still look the way I did on 'Stranger Things' Season 1. And because I don’t, I’m now a target."

Brown highlighted specific headlines that have scrutinized her appearance, including, "Why are Gen Zers like Millie Bobby Brown aging so badly?" and "What has Millie Bobby Brown done to her face?"

She also quoted headlines from articles, which included references to Matt Lucas's comments about her new look, which she said were "amplifying an insult rather than questioning why a grown man is mocking a young woman's appearance".

She condemned these articles, stating, "This isn’t journalism. This is bullying." She further expressed her dismay that some of these critiques were penned by women, emphasizing the need for solidarity rather than tearing each other down.

The actress also addressed the unrealistic expectations placed upon young women in the spotlight, asserting her refusal to apologize for her natural progression into adulthood.

She declared, "I refuse to make myself smaller to fit the unrealistic expectations of people who can’t handle seeing a girl become a woman."

Matt Lucas has now apologized to actress Millie Bobby Brown after she called him out in her video.

The British comedian had posted a Little Britain catchphrase alongside pictures of the 21-year-old on social media.

The catchphrase - "no but yeah but" - is used by delinquent adolescent Vicky Pollard in the sketch comedy series he co-created alongside David Walliams.

In the photos, Brown is wearing hoop hearings and a pink jacket, which Lucas felt resembled the Vicky Pollard character.

He wrote: "Dear Millie, I just saw your post and wanted to respond, and provide some context. Nearly 25 years ago I co-wrote and appeared in a sketch show called Little Britain.

"There was a character in it called Vicky Pollard, who had blonde hair and always wore a pink top, and in the photo you had blonde hair and wore a pink top so I pointed out the similarity by posting one of her catchphrases.

"I thought you looked terrific and I was mortified when the press wrote that I 'slammed' you, firstly because that's not my style, and secondly because I think you're brilliant.

"I would not have posted it if I had thought it would have upset you but I realise it has and for that I apologise."
