Matthew Perry's ex-girlfriend has pleaded with officials to reopen the investigation surrounding his death.

Perry passed away at the age of 54 on October 28, 2023. First responders discovered the beloved actor unresponsive in a hot tub at his Los Angeles residence.

It has since been revealed that the actor died due to "the acute effects of ketamine," with the exact method of intake remaining undetermined. Contributing factors listed include drowning, coronary artery disease, and the effects of buprenorphine, used to treat opioid use disorder, per TMZ.

While the death was ruled an accident, Kayti Edwards - former girlfriend and assistant to the late Friends star - believes that foul play might have been involved.

As reported by the Mirror, Edwards dated Perry in 2006 and, despite separating, they remained friends up until his death.

Now, Edwards has voiced her concerns regarding Perry's contact with rogue medical officials.

Speaking about her concerns over the death being ruled accidental, Edwards told the outlet: "It needs to be looked at again. I know when Matthew was taking 40 to 50 Vicodin in a day, he was getting it from a nurse who would bring it to his house."

She emphasized the urgency of revisiting the case, given Perry's troubling history with substance abuse and the suspicious circumstances surrounding his death.

"He had a way of enabling people to do things for him, saying ‘I’ll give you this amount of money if you keep your mouth shut and get me this,'" Edwards continued.

"He made it so hard to say no. He was like ‘Kayti, can you run down and pick up this envelope for me, I’ll give you $5,000.’ It was hard to say no to that. It’s why I want people to investigate medical staff to see if he had a deal with any of them to give him some ketamine on the side."

Perry, who battled addiction throughout his life, had been undergoing ketamine infusion therapy for depression. However, the last session occurred a week and a half before his death, raising questions about the source of the ketamine found in his system.

Following the backlash BAFTA received for not involving Perry in the In Memoriam segment of the ceremony, Edwards has urged the Oscars to not make the same mistake.

"I know that it would mean a lot for him to be honored at the Oscars in some way," she said.

Despite Perry's fame and success, Edwards revealed that he was genuinely kind and supportive. Recalling their time together, she described him as a "real homebody" who cherished simple pleasures like watching movies and cooking.

She revealed that despite his battles with addiction, the actor "always craved a family" and that "having children was a big part of his dream."
