Matthew Perry's last ever interview has resurfaced following his heartbreaking death at the age of 54.

Over the weekend, it was confirmed that the beloved Friends star had passed away at his Los Angeles home after being found unresponsive in his hot tub, per TMZ and the Los Angeles Times.

BBC News has since reported that a post-mortem conducted on Perry yielded inconclusive results, and authorities are currently awaiting toxicology test outcomes. Additionally, a Los AngelesĀ  Police representative told CBS News that there were no evident signs of trauma.

On Sunday, the LA County Medical Examiner's office provided an update, indicating the case was pending further review. Typically, this suggests that the autopsy has been carried out, but that additional information is still required, per BBC News.

Despite being best known for his role as the lovable joker Chandler Bing on the hit US sitcom Friends, Perry was also an advocate for addiction - having previously detailed his own battles with substance and alcohol abuse.

As well as sharing his story in multiple interviews and his 2022 memoir Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing, Perry had even opened The Perry House throughout the 2010s - a sober-living facility dedicated to helping people battling alcoholism.

And in his final ever interview, Perry once again echoed his message of hope to others battling addiction.

The interview was part of the promotional tour for his book, but his powerful message remains just as important now as ever.

"I want people to understand that they're not alone that there are other people feeling exactly the way they're feeling," he said. 'That their behavior is not insane, that they have a disease and it's not their fault.

"There's a very famous line that people don't change. I happen to know that people do change.

"And I see that every day. I see people getting better. I see the lights in their eyes come on and they get through the terrible part of addiction and the detox and are able to live a normal life as long as they do a certain amount of work every day."

In fact, despite starring in one of the most successful television shows of all time and being adored by millions around the world for his portrayal of Chandler Bing - Perry once revealed that Friends is not the thing that he wants to be remembered for after his death.

In a now-poignant interview with Tim Power last year, the late actor courageously opened up about his battles with addiction and how he dedicated his life to helping others.

When asked how he'd like to be remembered, Perry said: "I would like to be remembered as somebody who lived well, loved well, was a seeker and his paramount thing is that he wants to help people...That's what I want."

His heartfelt response was met with applause and cheers from the audience at the time, and now fans are reacting to the clip after learning of his tragic passing.

And after scanning through comments on social media over the last few days, it is clear that Perry certainly did help countless others.

Once again, our thoughts at this time are with Perry's family, friends, and fans.
