Michael Bolton has revealed that he was diagnosed with brain cancer and underwent surgery shortly before Christmas.
Bolton, 70, disclosed his diagnosis with a heartfelt post on his Facebook page, updating fans on his current condition.
"I want to start by wishing everyone a very happy and healthy new year! I also want to share that 2023 ended up presenting me with some very unexpected challenges," wrote Bolton. "Just before the holidays, it was discovered that I had a brain tumor, which required immediate surgery."
Fortunately, Bolton expressed gratitude for the success of the surgery, attributing it to his "incredible medical team." Currently recuperating at home, he is surrounded by the love and support of his family.
Concerns about his health arose after his performance during the Disney Parks Christmas Day Parade, where some viewers speculated that he appeared to be "in pain," per The Sun.

"What was wrong with Michael Bolton on the Christmas Parade? He looked in pain," one X user asked.
Hopefully, the singer's optimistic update will leave many fans at ease as we wish him all the best during his recovery.
Known for hits like '(Sittin' On) the Dock of the Bay', Bolton rose to fame in 1987 and has had a remarkable career spanning decades.
Originally a heavy metal singer in the mid-1970s to the mid-1980s, Bolton transitioned to power ballads in the late '80s, gaining fame for his powerful love songs.
Throughout his career, he has amassed six American Music Awards, two Grammy Awards, and sold over 75 million records, with eight top-10 albums and two number-one singles on the Billboard charts.

In addition to his musical achievements, Bolton went viral in 2011 for his appearance in The Lonely Island's 'Jack Sparrow' video, amassing over 200 million views. He also co-hosted ABC's Celebrity Dating Game and pursued acting, with appearances in shows like Meet Wally Sparks, Two and a Half Men, and as a contestant on season 11 of Dancing with the Stars.
Bolton also directed the documentary American Dream: Detroit, focusing on the economic revival of the city. Despite financial success, Bolton faced a setback in 1992 when he was sued by the Isley Brothers for allegedly stealing their song with his release of 'Love is a Wonderful Thing'.
In his personal life, Bolton was married to Maureen McGuire from 1975 to 1990, and they share three daughters, Isa, Holly, and Taryn.

Speaking to The Sydney Morning Herald in 2019, he reflected on the early marriage, stating they were too young and that he didn't know who he was as a person. After divorcing in 1990, Bolton dated Nicollette Sheridan and got engaged in 2006, but the engagement was called off in 2008.
We wish Bolton all the best with his health moving forward.
