Michael Madsen dies aged 67

Michael Madsen, best known for his roles in several iconic Quentin Tarantino movies, has died aged 67.

News of Madsen's death was confirmed by his manager, Ron Smith, who revealed the star had suffered a cardiac arrest.

TMZ reports that Madsen was found unresponsive in his Malibu home, where he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Managers Susan Ferris and Ron Smith, and publicist Liz Rodriguez told NBC: "In the last two years Michael Madsen has been doing some incredible work with independent film including upcoming feature films Resurrection Road, Concessions, and Cookbook for Southern Housewives, and was really looking forward to this next chapter in his life.


"Michael was also preparing to release a new book called Tears For My Father: Outlaw Thoughts and Poems, currently being edited.

"Michael Madsen was one of Hollywood’s most iconic actors, who will be missed by many."

Madsen was known for portraying "tough guy" roles in a career spanning 40 years.

Among his credits were roles in Kill Bill: Vol. 1, Reservoir Dogs, and Donnie Brasco. He also appeared in Thelma and Louise, Free Willy, Die Another Day, and Once Upon A Time In Hollywood.

Madsen was born in Chicago, beginning his acting career in the Steppenwold Theatre Company.

After breaking Hollywood, he played criminal Mr. Blonde in Quentin Tarantino's directorial debut in 1992's Reservoir Dogs.

The pair went on to work together in several subsequent movies, including Kill Bill: Vol. 1, The Hateful Eight, and Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.

Outside of acting, Madsen was married three times and was a father to six children.
