In the celebrity world, there's a constant battle to stay relevant these days. What with social media and reality TV and, well, articles like this one, what constitutes as a moment in the spotlight is becoming ever smaller by the day - so famous folks who find themselves quite far down on the list of household names are always scrabbling for a little bit of attention.

And Michael Rapaport seems to have decided that the best way to get his is to insult famous women on the internet.

Yesterday, he took aim at Ariana Grande, tweeting, ""Ariana Grande is 27 acts 12, you take off those boots she hides her legs in, the cat eye make up and the genie pony tale and I think there’s hotter women working the counter at Starbucks no disrespect to Starbucks."

And, if at this point, you're wondering, "Who the hell is Michael Rapaport?", he's this dude:

Yup, this guy is criticising Ariana Grande. This 48-year-old man. This dude who a great deal of people Grande's age only know as Phoebe's cop boyfriend for like four episodes in Friends. This guy.

And now he's had the audacity to turn on Kim Kardashian.

When the reality star posted this selfie to her 122 million followers yesterday, Rapaport felt the need to jump in with an unprovoked attack.

And what wise words did he have to offer this time? Well, just take a look for yourself:

Once again, people were absolutely stunned. Rapaport is a fairly under-the-radar guy for the most part, and now he's suddenly decided to come for two of the most idolised women on social media.

Mike, my guy, who hurt you?

Anyway, fans of Kardashian's weren't standing for Rapaport's comments, and a lot of the replies to his original tweet about Ariana Grande show just how everyone feels about some has-been in his late forties coming for young, successful women.

"Why? I mean, just why?" wrote one person. "Why say something so irrelevant, untrue and unnecessarily cruel about someone you’ve never even met? C’mon man. Be better."

"I just wanna know how deep you had to stalk the internet for this picture," added another. "This picture is really old, she’s probably around 17-19 in this pic and it’s more of a rare photo. A bit creepy you dug that deep for it..."

And some folks just went ahead with some straight-up shade by posting this telling detail from Rapaport's Wikipedia page:

It's not entirely clear why the actor and comedian has suddenly decided to come out and say these things, but he's been incredibly defensive of his posts since they went up and is outraged at "snowflakes" who keep calling him out on his offensive rants.

Ultimately, though, the joke is definitely on him. Does he think Ariana and Kim are bothered by what he thinks? He wishes they were.
