Miley Cyrus just revealed a new tattoo, and eagle-eyed fans believe it may be a reference to her recent divorce from Liam Hemsworth.

The Wrecking Ball singer paid a visit to Beverly Hills based tattoo artist, Daniel Winterstone, who inked the word "freedom" above her knuckles using just one needle. Winterstone took to Instagram to share a snap of the finished tat, captioning the selfie of him and Miley: "FREEDOM #freedom #mothersdaugter #mileycyrus #singleneedle #delicatelysharp #tattoo."

Watch as Miley and Cody Simpson celebrate her birthday:

He included the hashtag "#mothersdaugher" in reference to a track on Miley's EP, She Is Coming, which was released in May of this year.

In the song, the 27-year-old sings "So-so, so don’t f*** with my freedom, I came back to get me some, I’m nasty, I’m evil. Must be something in the water or that I’m my mother’s daughter."

However, some fans in the comments section seem to be convinced that the ink was a reference to her ongoing divorce proceedings with Liam Hemsworth.

Cyrus and her husband of eight months, Liam Hemsworth, decided to split back in August.

According to Entertainment Tonight, a representative for the pair said: "Liam and Miley have agreed to separate at this time. Ever-evolving, changing as partners and individuals, they have decided this is what’s best while they both focus on themselves and careers."

"They still remain dedicated parents to all of their animals they share while lovingly taking this time apart. Please respect their process and privacy."

Liam cited "irreconcilable differences" in his divorce from the 26-year-old, which was reportedly finalized in October.

Miley has previously denied allegations of infidelity on her end, asserting "I am proud to say, I am simply in a different place from where I was when I was younger. I can admit to a lot of things but I refuse to admit that my marriage ended because of cheating."
