Miley Cyrus has revealed that she made the decision to go sober in an effort to avoid joining the infamous '27 Club'.
For those unaware, the term '27 Club' was spawned following the loss of some of the world's greatest musicians and singers at the age of 27.

Icons such as Kurt Cobain, Amy Winehouse, Jimi Hendrix, and Jim Morrison all had their lives cut short after tragically dying at the age of 27.
Fortunately, Miley celebrated her 28th birthday yesterday (November 23), and has since revealed she quit drugs and alcohol in a conscious effort to avoid having her name added to the 27 Club list.
Speaking to Apple Music's New Music Daily, the 'Wrecking Ball' singer said: "Twenty-seven to me was a year that I really had to protect myself.
"That actually really made me want to get sober because we’ve lost so many icons at 27. It’s a very pivotal time.
"You go into that next chapter or this is it for you. I just feel that some of the artists that almost couldn’t handle their own power and their own energy and their own force... It’s an energy."

However, Miley was open and honest on her battle with sobriety, admitting that she relapsed two weeks ago.
Speaking candidly, the chart-topper said: "I would never sit here and go, 'I’ve been f**king sober.'
"I fell off and I realized that I now am back on sobriety, two weeks sober, and I feel like I really accepted that time.
"One of the things I’ve used is, 'Don’t get furious, get curious'. So don’t be mad at yourself, but ask yourself, 'What happened?'
Miley added: "To me, it was a f**k up because I’m not a moderation person, and I don’t think that everyone has to be f**king sober. I think everyone has to do what is best for them.
"I don’t have a problem with drinking. I have a problem with the decisions I make once I go past that level of... I’ve just been wanting to wake up 100% of the time."
To celebrate her birthday with her fans, Miley took to Instagram to share a video montage of her life.
She captioned the post to her 116 million followers: "Cheers to another year of Britney Spears and facing fears! YASSSSS! Thank you for makin my life so unbelievably rad! Appreciate you!"
