Millie Bobby Brown, renowned for her role as Eleven in Stranger Things, has publicly addressed recent criticisms concerning her appearance, labeling such scrutiny as "bullying" and asserting her right to mature without public disparagement.

The 21-year-old actress, who entered the entertainment industry at the tender age of 10, has grown up under the watchful eyes of the public.

This prolonged exposure has subjected her to ongoing commentary about her evolving look. In a candid video shared on her Instagram account, Brown expressed her frustration over the relentless focus on her physical transformation.

She stated, "I grew up in front of the world, and for some reason, people can’t seem to grow with me. Instead, they act like I’m supposed to stay frozen in time, like I should still look the way I did on 'Stranger Things' Season 1. And because I don’t, I’m now a target."

Brown highlighted specific headlines that have scrutinized her appearance, including, "Why are Gen Zers like Millie Bobby Brown aging so badly?" and "What has Millie Bobby Brown done to her face?"

She condemned these articles, stating, "This isn’t journalism. This is bullying." She further expressed her dismay that some of these critiques were penned by women, emphasizing the need for solidarity rather than tearing each other down.

The actress also addressed the unrealistic expectations placed upon young women in the spotlight, asserting her refusal to apologize for her natural progression into adulthood.

She declared, "I refuse to make myself smaller to fit the unrealistic expectations of people who can’t handle seeing a girl become a woman."

Brown called for a societal shift towards positivity, questioning why the default reaction is often negative criticism rather than supportive compliments.

This isn't the first time Brown has confronted public scrutiny. She has previously spoken out against the sexualization and inappropriate comments directed at her as she matured in the public eye.

On her 16th birthday, she shared her frustration over the "inaccuracy, inappropriate comments, sexualization, and unnecessary insults" that have led to feelings of "pain and insecurity."

Brown's recent comments have garnered widespread support from fans and fellow celebrities alike. Many have praised her for addressing the issue head-on and advocating for a more compassionate and understanding approach towards young women in the public sphere.

Her stance serves as a powerful reminder of the challenges faced by those growing up under constant public scrutiny and the importance of fostering a culture of empathy and respect.
