Mrs. Doubtfire child star Matthew Lawrence says he refrained from taking drugs following advice he was given by Robin Williams, who played his on-screen father.
In the hit 1993 comedy, Williams played a divorced father of three who disguises himself as an old lady in order to convince his ex-wife (played by Sally Field) to hire him as the children's nanny - all so that he can spend time with them.
Over the weekend, Lawrence - who played William's teenage son, Chris Hillard, in the film - appeared at the first-ever '90s Con and spoke about his late co-star.

Per People, Lawrence, now 42, recalled Williams telling him: "'Don't ever do drugs. Especially cocaine.' He was very serious. He was like, 'You know when you come to my trailer and you see me like that?' He's like, 'That's the reason why.'
"And now I'm fighting for the rest of my life because I spent 10 years doing something very stupid every day. Do not do it.' I stayed away from it because of him."
He continued: "He was the first adult who really let me in on his condition. Like, full-on let me in. I mean, as bright as he was on camera — I would go visit him in his trailer to talk to him — it was painful for him. It's really painful for him. He didn't hide it. He talked to me about it."

Lawrence credits Williams, who died at 63 in 2014 by suicide, with "gifting" him this now-decades-old piece of advice.
The actor also said the Jumanji star was one of the reasons he was given the role of Chris Hillard in the first place. In fact, the Boy Meets World star was "a hair away" from getting the part during casting.
He recalled: "There was another strong choice that everybody else wanted. The studio wanted this other boy ... I don't know who it was, I was only nine years old. But I did start to sense that something was up because there was like this little pause and little awkwardness and I was always the quiet one."
Over the weekend, Lawrence also reunited with his two on-screen siblings from the hit 90s movie.
In the movie, the children are played by Lisa Jakub (eldest daughter Lydia), Lawrence (son Chris), and
Mara Wilson (youngest daughter Natalie). Their chemistry as on-screen siblings shined through, and their incredible reactions to Williams' antics throughout the movie have helped cement the film as a beloved classic.
Wilson also took to Instagram to share a sweet snap of the on-screen siblings, with Wilson captioning her post: "Hilliard Family reunion at #90sCon".
Lawrence has continued acting, and has had multiple roles over the last three decades - appearing in hit shows like CSI: Miami, Hawaii Five-0, and the Disney spinoff, Girl Meets World.
