New footage of Alec Baldwin car crash appears to contradict the actor's statement

New footage obtained by an outlet appears to contradict Alec Baldwin’s version of a recent car crash in East Hampton, New York.

On Monday (October 13), the 67-year-old Beetlejuice actor was involved in a car crash while driving his wife Hilaria’s Range Rover with his brother, actor Stephen Baldwin, in the passenger seat.

The incident took place around noon on Montauk Highway in East Hampton, New York. Despite Baldwin’s claims that a garbage truck caused the accident, newly released footage appears to dispute his version of events.

Baldwin’s Statement vs. the Video

After the crash, Baldwin took to his Instagram to speak out about the incident. "This morning I was in this car accident. Guy cut me off in a truck. Big garbage truck, I mean a garbage truck the size of a whale," he said. "It was the biggest garbage truck I've ever seen, and the - anyway, I won't go into the details now, I won't bore you."

"But to avoid hitting him, I hit a tree. I hit a big fat tree, and crushed my car, my wife's car," he continued, adding: "I crushed my wife’s car - I feel bad about that. But so I'm fine, and my brother's fine, boppity-bop."

As the Rust star blamed the truck driver for cutting him off, exclusive footage from Newsmax shows that the truck driver completed its legal turn before Baldwin’s vehicle came into view.

There was no visible evidence that the driver obstructed his path or forced him off course. Instead, the Range Rover appears to lose control after attempting to maneuver around the truck.

Police Report Confirms Baldwin’s Version, Despite Video Evidence

Despite the conflicting video, East Hampton Town Police released a statement that seems to back Baldwin’s account of the crash.

According to the report, Baldwin’s Range Rover "struck a tree on the Eastbound shoulder of the roadway while avoiding the turning action of a 2020 Mack commercial truck," per Daily Beast.

The police also noted that "contributing factors" to the crash included “a reaction to an uninvolved vehicle and the slippery and wet roadway conditions".

Baldwin emphasized in his update that both he and his brother were unharmed and expressed regret over damaging his wife’s car. "Hilaria, I love you more than anything, and I’m very proud of you."

He added further context to the crash, saying the truck "must have been something commercial, for like taking away material from construction or something".

While the actor maintains that the garbage truck was the cause of the crash, the conflicting footage raises questions about the accuracy of his account. Despite the discrepancies, the crash remains a minor incident, with no injuries or legal action taken.
