UK singer and TV presenter Olly Murs has issued an online apology after pranking his girlfriend in a series of TikTok videos.

In one particular video shared to social media, the chart-topper cuts a hole in the bottom of a Pringles can, and then tricks girlfriend Amelia into reaching down and grabbing his penis.

However, the 35-year-old 'Troublemaker' singer was met with backlash from angered fans.

One Twitter user by the name of Mark Goldbridge wrote: "Olly Murs sticking his n*b in a Pringles tube [...] know your audience Olly [...] yours is primetime family and under sixteens. Not a good move".

Another Twitter user wrote: "Wtf is wrong with Olly Murs tik tok is for kids dude, put your penis away already!"

A third wrote: "What a t**t. Olly Murs seems to have forgotten his audience [is] family and kids. What an outstanding role model! He's going to regret that move!"

In response to the backlash, the former X-Factor contestant has taken to Twitter to apologise for his videos, writing: "So I’ve had a few days to think about this, and wanted to apologise to anyone who has been offended by my social videos.

"My intention was only to make people smile and laugh during these trying times. Am wishing you all a great bank holiday remember to #bekind #stayathome."

However, many Murs fans disagree with the singer's need to apologise, claiming that he was just trying to make people laugh and that people have overreacted.

One fan responded to the apology, saying: "It makes me sad that you even feel like you need to apologise! You were only trying to keep people positive. Please don’t let any of that negativity get to you. Have a great weekend and sending lots of love"

Another said: "99.9% smiled Olly only the snowflakes moaned as normal. Nothing to really apologise for".
