Olympics viewers have made the same complaint after Tom Cruise's appearance during the Closing Ceremony.

The highly-anticipated 2024 Paris Olympic Games kicked off on July 26th and drew to a close on Sunday (August 11).

It's safe to say that the sporting event - which brought us many viral moments from the chaotic opening ceremony to a break-dancer doing a kangaroo hop - was very memorable.

Thousands of spectators gathered at the Stade de France on Sunday to watch the closing ceremony. As is tradition, the show centered around the idea of "passing" the Olympics onto the next host.

The Mission: Impossible actor featured in the ceremony as part of the huge stars marking the handover from Paris to Los Angeles – where the 2028 games will be hosted.

During his segment, the 62-year-old dramatically abseiled off the Stade de France roof and landed in a crowd of fans before jumping on a motorbike and riding out of the stadium while holding the Olympic flag.

A clip then showed the Hollywood star traveling through the French capital and getting onto a plane before he eventually landed at the famous Hollywood sign in LA.

Watch the dramatic moment below:

Cruise's appearance had been rumored as he was spotted several times in Paris cheering on Team USA, but in the end, viewers were left "underwhelmed" by his stunt.

"That Tom Cruise thing was underwhelming to be honest," one person said, while another agreed: "Opening & closing ceremony both extremely bland, no passion, no imagination totally without a highlight to mention & Tom cruise on a big of string was totally underwhelming."

"Stunning and wonderfully pointless," a third said, while a fourth shared their honest reaction: "Bare minimum stunt, I expected better from Tom Cruise."

Meanwhile, others marveled at the Mission: Impossible-style stunt, with one viewer writing: “[Cruise] did all of his favorite stunts, jumped off of a building, rode a motorcycle, ran a bit, climbed a bit, and of course jumped out of an aeroplane. A Mission Impossible supercut.”

It's not the first time that the Tom Gun star has been involved in the Olympic Games as in 2004, he carried the torch through LA during a worldwide relay event.

This time, there was more meaning behind his stunt as his upcoming movie, Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part Two, will be released in May 2025.

Paramount Pictures took to X (formerly Twitter) to share a statement expressing gratitude to the actor for his involvement in the franchise. They also shared a teaser of the movie.

Check out the post below:

The statement read: “Today’s closing ceremonies brought our world another incredible moment from Tom Cruise, one that has us looking back on many before it. No matter the mission, he’s always accepted it."

“We want to take this opportunity to thank Tom for all that he has done for our industry and art forms as both an actor and a producer,” they continued. “He’s consistently strived for the utmost competence across any and all skills that will better the story and experience for the audience.”

The father-of-three responded to the statement with: “I’m incredibly proud of all that we’ve done together. I look forward to sharing our next Mission!”

Elsewhere at the closing ceremony, Billie Eilish and H.E.R performed while Red Hot Chili Peppers performed 'Can’t Stop'.

The IOC president Thomas Bach joked that the 2024 Paris Olympics had been "Seine-sational," according to Metro.

"The Olympic Games Paris 2024 were a celebration of the athletes and sport at its best. The first Olympic Games delivered fully under our Olympic Agenda reforms: younger, more urban, more inclusive, more sustainable," he said. "The first-ever Olympic Games with full gender parity."

"These were sensational Olympic Games from start to finish – or dare I say: Seine-sational Olympic Games," he concluded.
