Pamela Anderson has been a household name for decades, thanks to her role as C.J. Parker on the hit show Baywatch. With her iconic red swimsuit and sun-kissed blonde hair, she became a symbol of beauty and Hollywood glamor.
Over the years, Anderson's career has taken her from television star to a cultural icon, and she’s also become known for her outspoken activism, especially in advocating for animal rights and environmental causes.
In recent years, Anderson has embraced a more natural look, often stepping out without makeup and showing a raw, authentic side of herself. This shift in how she presents herself publicly reflects a deeper transformation in her personal life, one where she’s been exploring her identity and what it means to stay true to herself.

As she continues to evolve in the public eye, Anderson has revealed that she’s been contemplating a significant change - one that goes beyond her appearance.
In a recent interview with Vogue Scandinavia, Anderson opened up about a desire to change her last name. While Pamela Anderson is a name synonymous with fame, she admitted that sometimes she wishes to be known by something different, something that connects more deeply with her roots and personal history.
The actress revealed that she has thought about adopting a new name - Pamela Hyytiäinen. This name, she explained, would honor her Finnish heritage and the legacy of her late grandfather, Herman Hyytiäinen, who immigrated to Canada and changed his surname to Anderson to better assimilate into his new life.
“Sometimes I don’t want to be Pamela Anderson,” she said, acknowledging the pull she feels toward her family’s roots. "I want to be Pamela Hyytiäinen. I would like to change my name, but they won’t let me."

Anderson’s grandfather was not only a close figure in her life but also someone who passed down a sense of wonder about the world, especially when it came to folklore and language.
“He was the closest person to me,” she said, remembering how he taught her Finnish.
Although her fluency in the language faded after his passing when she was around 11, Anderson has continued to explore her heritage and identity over the years, now reflecting on how this part of her life can be incorporated into her current journey.
Anderson's reflections on changing her name come as part of a larger process of self-discovery. The actress explained that she has spent years "trying different people on for size," meaning she’s explored various aspects of herself and constantly reshaped her identity.
She has undergone many changes in her career and personal life, from her looks to her perspectives, and she sees this as an ongoing process of peeling back layers and reinventing herself.
Despite her desire for a name change, Anderson emphasized that she remains firmly herself, and the name "Hyytiäinen" would be a way to express a deeper connection to her roots, not an attempt to escape her past. "You have to peel it all back, many times, and start over and over again," she shared, expressing her commitment to evolving while remaining true to her authentic self.
