Paris Hilton has revealed that the comments made about her son's appearance left her "heartbroken".
Hilton welcomed her first child, Phoenix, with husband Carter Reum on January 25, sharing the news across her social media platforms.
Accompanied by a heartwarming photo of the newborn's tiny fingers wrapped around hers, Hilton expressed her love with the caption: "You are already loved beyond words" and a blue heart.
In an exclusive interview with PEOPLE, Hilton described the experience of becoming a mother as her "dream," saying: "It's always been my dream to be a mother, and I'm so happy that Carter and I found each other. We are so excited to start our family together, and our hearts are exploding with love for our baby boy."
Despite the outpouring of positive comments on the photos she shared of Phoenix, some malicious trolls directed hurtful remarks toward the infant's appearance.
The media personality and DJ expressed her heartbreak over the online attacks in an interview with PEOPLE on Tuesday.
“I couldn’t believe that they could be mean and vicious about a little innocent baby,” Hilton said. “You can say what you want about me, but this is my little angel. And if anyone ever says anything to hurt him or his feelings, I will always be there to protect him.”
While Hilton typically ignores hateful messages, she felt compelled to respond when her child became the subject of ridicule. “Usually, I wouldn’t even dignify anything like that with a response, but I was just heartbroken that there are such cruel people in the world,” Hilton said.
She expressed sympathy for those who engage in bullying, stating: “They’re that miserable in their lives that they would go and speak about a child in such a way.”
Despite the negativity, Hilton praised the support of her fans. “It makes me feel so grateful knowing that there’s so many people in the world that love and support me,” she admitted.
Responding to the encouragement from her followers, Hilton shared: “I’ve just been reading all the messages from people saying how much they love Phoenix and how beautiful he is and to not listen to the trolls. [...] So anyone reading this, thank you so much. I really, really appreciate everyone looking out for us.”
Following the birth of her son, she spoke to Us Weekly about the shift in her priorities, emphasizing that her baby is her top focus. "All of my priorities have shifted. I am saying no to so many things because I want to be able to spend as much time with [my son] as possible. He's just my little angel."
