New England Patriots quarterback, Tom Brady, has come under fire for allegedly putting his 6-year-old daughter in danger after doing a waterfall cliff jump with her.

Brady, who shares Vivian with his wife, Gisele Bundchen, took to Instagram over the weekend to post a clip of the pair making the jump. "If Vivi is going to be an Olympic champion one day, it probably won’t be in synchronized diving. Daddy always gives her a 10 though! ???," read the caption. He then followed this up with a joking comment, "I didn’t want to be the first Brady to fall off a cliff!"

The post incited quite the furore, with some going as far to call for Brady's suspension from the NFL, branding his actions as "child abuse".

Even the 41-year-old's celebrity friends seemed to be taken aback. "You KNOW I have complete faith in you as a man, friend, player and father - but this just gave me anxiety. Geeezus ?????," wrote Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, and pro surfer, Kelly Slater corroborated "That shoulder ok? ?"

Brady's fans were decidedly less amused. "Really stupid move ?? so happy your child was not injured. You should not take a life for granted and you did," wrote one, while another added "Bad parenting? His daughter almost broke her arm. NFL should consider punishment."

This is not the first time that the American footballer has been criticised over his parenting. Back in 2018, he was slammed by some social media users for kissing his son, Jack, on the lips. This also caused quite the divide; while some thought it was a perfectly natural display of affection, others deemed it to be inappropriate.

Brady has yet to issue a statement about the contentious Instagram video.
