Zendaya practically broke the internet this weekend following her appearance at the Venice International Film Festival.
The Spider-Man star had people rushing to Twitter after appearing on the red carpet wearing a custom-made nude-tone leather dress while attending the Venice premiere of Dune.
The 25-year-old looked incredible in the gown, which appeared to look like it was wet and draped over her body.
Zendaya teamed the dress with a pair of nude heels and, per Page Six, a 93-carat emerald necklace from the Bulgari’s Magnifica high jewelry collection.
After hitting the red carpet, photos of the dress were soon circulating all over social media, with everyone confused and intrigued in the very best way.
One person tweeted: "[Zendaya’s] dress is so beautiful it looks like it’s wet and it’s sticking to her body I’M OBSESSED."
A second typed: "zendaya’s dress also reminds me of this sculpture. the relationship between dry / wet, solid / fluid. i love them so much [sic]".
Another Twitter user wrote: "I want to know what Zendaya’s dress feels like (and all other fake wet dresses, are they plastic-y???)"
"Can't get over the details in Zendaya's dress," tweeted a fourth.
Fortunately, the fashion company behind the gown, Balmain, has taken to social media to reveal how the dress was actually made.
Writing on their official Instagram account, a spokesperson said: "The bespoke leather gown was crafted using an exact model of the stars’ bust, taking full advantage of the Balmain atelier and the house’s artisanal tradition."
The dress was designed by Olivier Rousteing, who has also taken to social media to state: " I am so proud of this dress. Thank you @zendaya for showing our savoir-faire".
Rousteing's stunning creation boasted a thigh-high slit, scoop neckline, and ruching to make it look like Zendaya had been carved from marble.
Then again, even with the explanation, it seems like some people still can't get their heads around it:
Honestly, this look is going to live in my mind rent-free until the next time Zendaya decides to wow us on the red carpet.
