Social media users have been amazed this week by the close resemblance Prince Harry bears to his grandfather Prince Philip in an old picture
The pic in question was shared on Instagram by a user named Chris Jackson, who is also the author of a book on the British royal family entitled: "Modern Monarchy."
The image was taken from the cover of a French magazine and showed a young version of the late Duke of Edinburgh in naval regalia.
Jackson captioned his post: "I was reminded today of this incredible vintage @parismatch_magazine from 1957 I acquired a few years ago."
He added: "I was blown away the minute I spotted it. It always reminds me of the unique, historic reference points that Royal photography provides. The front cover features a fantastically suave Prince Philip on tour with The Queen."
As of the time of writing, Jackson's post boasts over 16,000 reactions and a further 482 comments from other social media users, who were amazed by how much the young Philip looked like his grandson.
For instance, one person wrote: "Harry looks so much like Philip."
A second person stated: "He looks like Prince Harry!"
A third commented: "I've always thought Harry resembles his grandfather, and this photo is proof why."
Another person stated: "Totally did a double take thinking it was Harry."
Meanwhile, someone else added: "For anyone saying Harry is not Charles' son, he looks exactly like Philip here!"
Finally, another commenter chimed in: "Wow that looks so similar to Harry!"
On Friday, Buckingham Palace confirmed in an official statement that Prince Philip had passed away at the age of 99, with a spokesperson writing:
"It is with deep sorrow that Her Majesty The Queen announces the death of her beloved husband, His Royal Highness Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh.
"His Royal Highness passed away peacefully this morning at Windsor Castle."
The Duke of Sussex has confirmed that he will be flying back from California to attend the funeral of his grandfather, which is set to be held on Saturday, April 17, at St George's Chapel in Windsor Castle.
His pregnant wife, Meghan Markle, will not be attending, on the advice of her doctors, reports say.
