A resurfaced clip from an interview with Jonah Hill and Jimmy Kimmel has left social media users in dismay.

Hill rose to prominence in Hollywood thanks to movies like Evan Almighty, Superbad, 21 Jump Street, and The Wolf of Wall Street.

Although the actor's performance in each of these movies was superb, there was no doubt that Hollywood was casting him in a certain way, as his characters were often nerdy, unpopular, and/or insufferable morons.

The impact of these roles then clearly started to spill out into his personal life, as the actor became the subject of criticism - to the point where he had to take to social media to politely ask strangers to stop commenting on his body.

"Good or bad I want to politely let you know it’s not helpful and doesn’t feel good," the actor wrote in an Instagram post back in 2021.

And although Hill has continued to knock out one critically acclaimed performance after another, he was still as easy target for ridicule. This is evident from how he was once greeted by Jimmy Kimmel on The Tonight Show. Check it out below:

A resurfaced clip has been trending on X showing the moment the host greeted Hill back in 2018.

Taking his seat, Kimmel tells Hill: "First of all, you smell good, which is surprising."

As the audience laughs, a visibly rocked Hill replies with a straight face: "Why is that surprising?"

"I don't know," Kimmel replies, "I just wouldn't think of you as a guy who would have a nice scent on."

Taken aback, Hill replied: "That's such a, like... I'm going to really work hard to not take that as a shot. Because I think you would smell nice."

As Kimmel attempts to backtrack, Hill does the professional thing and just gets the interview back on track.

The clip has once again resurfaced on X, along with the caption: "Why does Hollywood treat Jonah Hill so poorly?"

"Wow ... that was really low from Kimmel," one X user replied, "Poor guy."

But this isn't the first time people have called out Kimmel over his comment. On The Tonight Show's YouTube channel, the full interview was met with many comments from users defending Hill. "Jonah actually KILLED him with kindness and made him look like an idiot while not putting him down," one person commented.

Another added: "I love how he handled Jimmy’s rude comment then moved on and was still kind and good natured. That’s a class act."

"Can't believe he said that to him in the beginning, That's incredibly rude especially as a 'host'", another YouTuber user commented.

Of course, Hill has also been criticized for comments he has allegedly made in the past.

Back in 2023, the actor's ex-girlfriend, Sarah Brady, took to social media to share a number of messages she claimed Hill had sent her during their relationship.

The messages appear to show the Superbad actor criticizing Brady - a professional surfer - for sharing Instagram posts of her in a swimsuit.

While the messages appeared to show Hill simply stating his "boundaries" for their relationship, while Brady described the comments as "emotional abuse", per Buzzfeed.
