Piers Morgan has taken to Twitter to make a public apology to Lady Gaga after he slated the decision to invite the singer and actress to a World Health Organisation conference on COVID-19 earlier this month.

When it first emerged that Gaga would be a special guest at the conference, the daytime television presenter tweeted: "Why? Has she found a cure? Otherwise, we don’t need a bloody singer there."

There is no doubt, however, that Morgan had spoken far too soon as yesterday saw some of the biggest names in the music industry take part in the One World: Together At Home concert - a event which Gaga had heavy involvement in organizing.

There were performances from Camila Cabello, Shawn Mendes, One Direction's Niall Horan and Liam Payne, Taylor Swift, Paul McCartney, and Billie Eilish to name a few.

Beyoncé also made a special appearance to share this message of gratitude: "To the doctors, the nurses, and other health care workers who are away from their families, taking care of ours, we continue to pray for your safety."

She added: "Black Americans disproportionately belong to these essential parts of the workforce that do not have the luxury of working from home, and African American communities at large have been severely affected in this crisis."

Check out the message below:

The event raised a phenomenal $127.9million for COVID-19 relief - a fact that former critic Piers Morgan simply couldn't ignore.

So in response to Lady Gaga's tweet thanking the WHO for allowing her involvement in the project, the Good Morning Britain host wrote:

"I owe you an apology - this was a great initiative that raised a fortune, entertained people, & will help save lives. It was also a perfect illustration of a major star using their profile properly in this crisis. Congrats & sorry for originally questioning it."

Willing to let bygones be bygones, the A Star Is Born actress liked Morgan's apology tweet.
