Prince William has been likened to a "pimp" after turning up to his own ceremony dressed in a green velvet jacket and a black turtleneck.
Yesterday (October 17), stars and royalty attended the Earthshot Prize ceremony in London - an event held to honor those who have introduced solutions to create a sustainable environment and help combat climate change.
The Earthshot Prize was launched by The Duke of Cambridge back in 2020, alongside beloved broadcaster and natural historian, Sir David Attenborough.
However, despite the fact primary conversation of the evening being on the future of our planet, people couldn't help but share their opinions on Prince William's outfit choice for the evening.
Walking the red carpet alongside his wife, the Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton, the 39-year-old looking dapper in the unique outfit choice - which stood out from his usual smart suits. Per Entertainment Daily, the eye-catching jacket was actually from the British high street brand, Reiss.
But not everybody was so impressed with Will's get-up, with one person tweeting: "He looked like a pimp."
And a second person agreed, tweeting: "Is William pimping as a side gig? Cause there are no words for that green velvet jacket? Like he looked in the mirror and thought this was the look for the night?"
Other social media users even joked that Prince William could be the next James Bond (which, I believe, is a compliment):
And despite the jacket/turtleneck combo having plenty of critics, there were some people who thought the prince looked rather dashing.
"Was anyone else really feeling that dark green velvet jacket Prince William was wearing for last night's #EarthshotPrize because it was vibes," one fan tweeted.
And while we're all here, let's have a Kate appreciation snap:
Despite social media being flooded with comments about the Prince's attire, this was not the first time he has opted to wear the jacket - having previously donned the piece to a charity gala back in 2019.
Additionally, taking to the stage at Alexandra Palace at last night's event, the future king announced that he would be taking the Earthshot Prize to the United States.
He told the the audience: "Where better than the nation that inspired the Moonshot all those years ago? I’m delighted to announce that the Earthshot Prize will be heading to the United States of America in 2022."
