Rebel Wilson has admitted that her team was originally concerned how her recent weight loss would affect her career, after frequently being cast as the "funny, fat girl".

In her recent interview with BBC News, the 41-year-old Pitch Perfect star opened up about her "Year of Health" and how her team was originally hesitant of the idea.

"I got a lot of pushback from my own team actually, here in Hollywood," Wilson said. "When I said, 'Okay, I'm going to do this year of health, I feel like I'm really gonna physically transform and change my life.'

"And they were like, 'Why? Why would you wanna do that?' Because I was earning millions of dollars being the funny fat girl and being that person."

Check out Wilson's interview below:

Per People, Wilson has lost around 80lbs since opting to transform her life and improve her health.

She told the BBC that although she was a confident person prior to her weight loss, she knew "deep down inside" that her "emotional eating" habits were not healthy - admitting she used to "numb emotions using food".

This is not the first time Wilson has spoken out about how people have changed around her following her weight loss. Speaking on 2Day FM's new breakfast radio show Hughesy, Ed and Erin back in January, Wilson said:

"What's been really interesting to me is how other people treat you. Sometimes being bigger, people didn't look twice at you and now that I'm in good shape people offer to carry my groceries to the car and open doors for you. Is this what other people have experienced all the time? That to me has been really interesting."

Wilson also touched on how people in the movie industry were originally hesitant, saying: "Industry-wise, there were a lot of people who wanted me to stay as Fat Amy [her Pitch Perfect character].

"And at the end of the day, it is my life and my body and Hollywood had in a way typecast me but I didn't want to stay like that. It makes me sad sometimes that I didn't value myself enough before all of this to get healthy."

When Wilson first started her 'Year of Health' at the start of 2020, she took to Instagram to reveal her goals with her fans, writing;

"Okay so for me 2020 is going to be called “The Year of Health” - so I put on the athleisure and went out for a walk, deliberately hydrating on the couch right now and trying to avoid the sugar and junk food which is going to be hard after the holidays I’ve just had but I’m going to do it! Who’s with me in making some positive changes this year?"

And just look how far she's come:

Truly inspirational!
