Robin Williams' daughter, Zelda, has taken to Twitter to pay a sweet tribute to her father on what would have been the actor's 69th birthday.

In the post, the 30-year-old disclosed that she was making donations to homeless charities in the late star's memory, and said that she hoped the final amount would have made him smile.

"Today would’ve been Dad’s 69th birthday, so to honor him (& that glorious number), I will be donating $69.69 to as many local homeless shelters as I can," she wrote. "Join me if you like, but regardless, know I am wishing you all at least one hearty, immature belly laugh on Dad today."

Williams took his own life on the 11th of August 2014. He was 63-years-old.

At the time of his passing, Williams' wife, Susan Schneider, released the following statement: "I lost my husband and my best friend, while the world lost one of its most beloved artists and beautiful human beings. I am utterly heartbroken." She added: "It is our hope the focus will not be on Robin's death, but on the countless moments of joy and laughter he gave to millions."

Zelda took to social media in March at the start of the coronavirus lockdown to share some "old gems" she unearthed during a spring clean.

"Isolation spring cleaning is turning up some fun old gems," she wrote on the social media platform, besides some old polaroid photos of herself with her father. The montage sees the pair pull a series of faces for the camera.

Fans of the actor took to the comments to express their joy. "Man I bet he was the most fun dad ever. We all miss him like he was ours," wrote one Twitter user, while another added "One side of my brain wants to cry. The other side wants to laugh and smile."

"There aren't enough likes in the world for this. He is a national treasure," a third wrote.
