The Die Hard star’s health struggles were first revealed in March 2022, when his family announced that he was stepping away from acting due to an aphasia diagnosis.
Nearly a year later, in February 2023, they confirmed that his condition had progressed to frontotemporal dementia (FTD), a degenerative brain disease that affects behavior, personality, and language skills.
Rumer, 36, took to her Instagram story to answer fan questions ahead of her father’s birthday, cited by Entertainment Weekly.
When asked about Bruce’s health, she responded: "He’s doing great, thank you for asking. It’s actually his 70th birthday tomorrow, so please wish my Papa a big happy birthday!"
While celebrating her father’s 70th birthday, Rumer also opened up about the grief and anxiety she has experienced in recent years.
She admitted that she has been feeling "overwhelmed a lot, recently, by grief" and has leaned into therapy to process her emotions.
She also found comfort and validation in watching the 2024 animated film Inside Out 2, which features a character (voiced by Maya Hawke) modeled entirely around the emotion of anxiety.

Rumer has also praised the relationship between Bruce and Demi Moore, calling the way they prioritized their children after divorce a model for healthy co-parenting.
"Even when they split up, they created such a beautiful foundation of prioritizing my sisters and I that I never felt like I had to choose," Rumer shared in a British TV interview earlier this year.
"They never played against each other. We were a family, and we still are very much a family, no matter what. Not only did I feel like that set me up in my life to have such a beautiful foundation of my own family, but now as I'm working through co-parenting as well, I feel deep gratitude for the example they've set."
Moore, 62, who was married to Willis from 1989 to 2000, also opened up about his health and their bond in an interview with Variety.
"We will always be a family, just in a different form," Moore said.
"For me, there was never a question. I show up because that's what you do for the people you love."
Despite their divorce over two decades ago, Moore remains deeply involved in Bruce’s life, visiting him every week and supporting both their daughters and Bruce’s current wife, Emma Heming Willis, 46, along with the two younger daughters he shares with Emma - Mabel, 12, and Evelyn, 10.

Moore added that she hopes their commitment to co-parenting serves as an inspiration for others.
"I hope it's encouraging for others to see that there's a different way to do things. There is life after divorce. There is a way to co-parent with love."
She previously echoed similar sentiments during an interview with CNN, stating: "That has been very important to me even from when Bruce and I separated and divorced, is the recognition that we're a family, and we'll always be a family - just in a different form."
