The 58-year-old actress (yes, 58), was unveiled as one of four cover stars of Sports Illustrated's Swimsuit Issue 2025, alongside Olivia Dunne, 22, Lauren Chan, and Jordan Chiles, 24.
The magazine shared her smouldering cover, showing Salma kneeling in a checkered-tiled swimming pool, wearing a glittery green bikini and body chains.
The actress posed with her hands resting on her head as her wet black hair cascaded down her back and shoulders.
Fans were quick to heap praise on the star, writing: "I am surprised this collaboration hasn’t happened sooner. I have always loved @salmahayek This is Fire," and: "My Mexican queen!!!!"
Others added: "Wow!!! Fantastic choice! I will definitely buy a few copies of those!!! Timeless classic! Cheers!" and: "I dreamed of Salma appearing in SI, and now that dream has come true."
Another commented: "She’s truly an icon congratulations @salmahayek", as someone else added: "Obsessed is an understatement."
Salma also shared a behind-the-scenes video from the shoot, showcasing her wearing a series of different bikinis as she posed in a pool and rolled around in the sand on a beach, before getting swept away by a giant wave.
The actress told Sports Illustrated how honored she was to be appearing on its cover, explaining: "I remember when I was young, a long, long time ago, I was always excited to see the Swimsuit Issue of Sports Illustrated, and [thinking] ‘Who’s going to be in it?’
"Of course, I didn’t look like a model, so it never crossed my mind that one day I would be in it.
"If somebody had told me I was gonna be in it at 58, I would have sent them to the madhouse, but the world has changed, and that’s exciting."
Salma also addressed the changing views on aging as she nears her sixties, adding: "I could retire, but I don’t want to miss out on this time.
"I fought for it, you know, and I’ve been part of it, and I think it’s really remarkable that a magazine like Sports Illustrated [Swimsuit] says that it’s O.K., maybe even cool, to be past 50 and still be able to feel not just sexy, but for me, to be free and not be self-conscious of your body like you have to hide."
Sports Illustrated Swimsuit’s editor-in-chief MJ Day wrote in a press release: "Every single woman included this year brings with her a unique and powerful reason for being featured in the issue.
“Salma Hayek Pinault is a force of nature. As an actor, producer, philanthropist and champion for women, Salma is a beacon for Latinx communities, a tireless advocate and a person whose passion for art, life and humanity has few rivals.
"Her why is rooted in her ability to inspire generations to come, by showing us all that living on your own terms is the ultimate power. She has a creative fire that lights up everything she touches. Her passion for life, for storytelling, for humanity is rare. It’s real."

As for how Salma remains looking so flawless, she revealed that her 17-year-old daughter Valentina has got her into Korean beauty products, and she also swears by meditation.
She explained: "You have to find your way. For me, exercising is hard. It’s really, really difficult to have the discipline to do it. But meditation is a walk in the park, because it’s my own form of it.
"When I don’t [meditate] for some time, guess what? Not only [does] the face starts to drop and everything starts to drop, [but also] my herniated disc, the problem in my neck, the problem in my hip, my ankles [comes back]. I start breaking down.
"Sometimes when I’m doing it, people tell me when I come out of the room, ‘Oh my God, you look 20 years old.'"
