Britney Spear's long-term boyfriend Sam Asghari has broken his silence following the release of a "disturbing" new documentary about her conservatorship.
In an interview with People, the Family Business actor, 27, said: "I have always wanted nothing but the best for my better half, and will continue to support her following her dreams and creating the future she wants and deserves.
"I am thankful for all of the love and support she is receiving from her fans all over the world, and I am looking forward to a normal, amazing future together."
Asghari was prompted to speak after the release of the new, unauthorized documentary Framing Britney Spears on February 5.
It details Britney's rise to fame and notorious 2007 meltdown, which resulted in her father Jamie being named her conservator in 2008 - a role the star is now trying to have him removed from.
Framing Britney Spears, which was directed by Samantha Stark and produced by the New York Times, appeared on Hulu before being televised on FX that same evening, the Daily Mail reports.
While Jamie no longer has conservatorship over Britney's "person", he still controls her estate and as a result, the 'Toxic' singer can't make, for example, her own financial decisions.
Jive Records marketing executive Kim Kaiman, who worked with Britney during the early part of her career, is one of the documentary's interviewees.
He said of Britney's father Jamie: "The only thing Jamie ever said to me was: "'My daughter is going to be so rich she's going to buy me a boat,' That's all I'm gonna say about Jamie."
Spears and Asghari have been dating since 2016, having met on the set of her 'Slumber Party' music video and beginning a relationship later that year.
While the couple's relationship has largely been kept out of the spotlight, the pair have shared snippets of their life together on their respective social media accounts.
Britney took to Instagram to share how much she missed Sam when they were socially distanced at the start of the pandemic.
"I have been quarantining since I got back from Louisiana weeks ago …. so basically I haven't seen my boyfriend @samasghari in what feels like a lifetime !!!!" Spears wrote on Instagram in April.
"I have actually lost weight from missing him …. now none of my pants or shorts fit!!!!!" she added. "Guess that's what missing someone can do…. who else is experiencing this ????! [sic]"
