When choosing who to vote for in an election, most people don't want spin and bluster: they want the bare facts.

But this week Sarah Silverman, Mark Ruffalo and a number of other celebrities have taken this idiom literally after posing nude in a public service announcement encouraging voter registration.

In a new video released Wednesday by the nonpartisan organization RepresentUs, Silverman, Ruffalo, and other famous names such as Chris Rock, Amy Schumer, Tiffany Haddish, Josh Gad, Ryan Bathe, and Sacha Baron Cohen, who appeared in-character as fake Khazakstani ambassador Borat (and remained mercifully clothed).

Take a look at the footage in the video below:

The other celebs bared all in the footage, mostly only appeared in the video from the waist-up.

The nudist video also touched upon the subject of so-called naked ballots, which requires voters in 16 states to insert their mail-in ballots into two separate envelopes in order to be counted.

According to a report by Forbes on the video, the initiative follows a similar recent social media trend, which saw female lawmakers in Pennsylvania last month jokingly pose with mail-in ballots covering their chests.

Other celebrities have also been promoting voter registration with some rather raunchy posts. For example, actress Jenna Dewan has posted a post-partum picture showing off her bare her abs in an effort to get Americans voting.

Taking to her official Instagram account, 39-year-old Dewan shared wrote to her 6.2 million followers:

"A lot of people asking me about my post partum diet and exercise plan and I’m here to tell you it’s to make sure you’re registered to vote, vote early, and to vote like your life depends on it because it does. [sic]"

Meanwhile, pop icon Katy Perry shared a video of herself breast-pumping on Instagram to encourage her followers to vote, which saw her sitting on a chair facing away from the camera, wearing pajama bottoms, a dressing gown, and a nude bandeau top, before turning to the camera to reveal that she was using a breast pump - all to get the public "pumped" voting.

In a caption addressed to her 107 million followers, the 35-year-old star wrote:

"GET PUMPED TO VOTE!!! Okay so @orlandobloom and I have different views on what it means to get pumped these days but whoever said pumping isn’t a sport... I’d like to twist their nipples clockwise for one week straight. [sic]"

She added:

"ANYWAY I am going to exercise my right to vote!!!! Especially if @JaneFonda says I should. We’re getting in shape for the race of our lives this November and it has never been more important to #ExerciseThatVote. [sic]"
