A video of legendary British comedian Sean Lock has resurfaced on social media, in which he revealed what he wanted his obituary to say.

The comic, who passed away at the age of 58 following a struggle with cancer this week, spoke about his own legacy in a past episode of the British panel show 8 Out Of 10 Cats.

Take a look at the clip in question right here:

In the video, Lock is asked by host Jimmy Carr what he would like his obituary to say, which he quipped:

"I don't care, I'll be dead [...] Ideally I’d like it to say: 'noooooooooo! Whyyyyyyyyy? Noooooooo! aaaaaaaahhhh! [...] You can't write tears, Jimmy."

Lock was best known for his memorable guest appearances on a number of British comedy shows, such as QI, Have I Got News For You, Big Fat Quiz Of The Year, as well as his sitcom 15 Storeys High.

His death was announced in a public statement from his agent made on Wednesday, August 18.

The statement read, per BBC News: "It is with great sadness that we have to announce the death of Sean Lock. He died at home from cancer, surrounded by his family."

The statement continued: "Sean was one of Britain's finest comedians, his boundless creativity, lightning wit, and the absurdist brilliance of his work, marked him out as a unique voice in British comedy.

"Sean was also a cherished husband and father to three children. Sean will be sorely missed by all that knew him. We kindly request that the privacy of his family and children is respected at this difficult time."

A number of social media tributes to the entertainer have poured in from friends, fans, and fellow comedians alike.

For instance, After Life star Ricky Gervais tweeted: "Such sad news. RIP the great Sean Lock. One of the funniest, most influential comedians of a generation. A lovely man. [sic]"

Gervais' co-writer Stephen Merchant wrote: "I first saw Sean Lock live at a Bristol comedy club in mid 90s and remember laughing so hard my stomach actually ached. RIP to an hilarious man taken far too soon. [sic]"

Jimmy Carr wrote: "Brutal news about Sean Lock today. I loved him. I'm watching clips of him right now - laughing & crying. I'll miss him so much."

Vicar of Dibley star Dawn French wrote: "Oh. Sean Lock. A giantly funny and utterly lovely man. Will be massively missed."

Former QI host Stephen Fry agreed, tweeting: "Oh no, what horrible news… I think it safe to say that the best episodes of QI that I was involved with were always the ones where Sean Lock was a guest.

"Such complete brilliance in every comic direction. What a loss. My heart goes out to his family."

Mock The Week host Dara Ó Briain added: "MC'ed for Sean Lock in 98: his closer was an argument with his wife where he’d scream: 'You don’' know me' and he’'d rip off his suit and he was wearing a full Riddler costume underneath.

"But, he'd let the energy trickle away totally, and go: 'Thought that would go better.' Joyous."

Finally, comedian Jack Whitehall stated: "So sad about Sean Lock. He was such a special comedian. One of the quickest, most naturally witty people I've ever worked with. [World's] a less funny place without him. RIP."
