Selena Gomez has revealed that she has not used the internet in four and a half years - and it's had a noticeable impact on her mental wellbeing.

Gomez, 29, has always been a visible presence on the web. In fact, back in 2018, the former Disney star beat Beyoncé's record for the fastest Instagram post to reach one million likes, with her 26th birthday snap.

But according to the pop superstar, it's been years since she even used the internet. She revealed as much in an interview with Good Morning America.

Check out what she had to say below:

Gomez, who has more than 300 million Instagram followers, said in the interview: "I haven’t been on the internet in four and a half years. It has changed my life completely. I am happier, I am more present. I connect more with people. It makes me feel normal."

The 'Rare' songstress was promoting Wondermind, a mental health platform she helped launch.

A description on the Wondermind website reads: "We’ve each had our own mental health struggles, and we realized there was no inclusive, fun, and easy place where people could come together to explore, discuss, and navigate their feelings. So we created it."

Gomez has previously been vocal about her own mental health struggles including her bipolar disorder and hopes to ensure resources are available for those in need.

She said in the interview: "Growing up in the spotlight has definitely taught me so much. I can’t believe that I am where I am mentally just because how I took the necessary steps in order to kind of remove myself from that. Because it’s just not normal."

The singer then shared her hopes for Wondermind, explaining that she would have found it "comforting" to have such a platform during some of her own lows.

She went on: "If I’m known for anything, I hope it’s simply just for the way I care about people. Those days where I don’t want to get out of bed — if I had something like Wondermind, even if it took me a minute to get into it, it’s just there. And there’s something that’s really comforting about that."

While Gomez's Instagram account is regularly updated with images and videos featuring the 'Come & Get It' artist, it's likely they're uploaded by her team.
