Columbian singer Shakira has revealed that she was attacked and robbed by wild boars in a park in Barcelona, Spain.

The singer, 44, took to Instagram Story to share her ordeal by pointing out her damaged and muddy handbag, Insider reports.

Per BBC, she said in Spanish: "Look at how two wild boars which attacked me in the park have left my bag. They were taking my bag to the woods with my mobile phone in it. They've destroyed everything."

The 'Waka Waka' singer then filmed her eight-year-old son, Milan Piqué, and asked him to support her recounting of the boar attack.

"Milan tell the truth. Say how your mummy stood up to the wild boar," she said.

BBC reports that aggressive boars have become a growing problem in the area over recent years, with Spanish police receiving a whopping  1,187 phone calls about problem boars.

The animals prompted the calls after they attacked dogs and cat-feeders, held up traffic, and ran into cars.

A team of veterinary scientists from the Autonomous University of Barcelona were subsequently hired in a bid to solve the problem in 2019, The Guardian reports.

For their work, the scientists deliberately targeted young female boars in a bit to cut population numbers, and it was so successful that human-boar alterations fell by more than a half.

What's more, this isn't the first time that the 'Hips Don't Lie' singer has been attacked by a wild animal.

She wrote in a blog post back in 2012 where that her brother saved her after she was attacked by a sea lion after trying to take a selfie with the animal using her phone.

Per BBC, she wrote: "Everyone there screamed, including me. I was paralyzed by fear and couldn't move.

"I believe what happened is that it confused the shiny reflection of the BlackBerry I was taking these pics [sic] with, with some sort of fish."

"It probably thought I was teasing it with food and then taking it away from it," she added.
