A Minnesota woman’s mugshot has gone viral after she was arrested over an alleged shoplifting incident
Cyrena Anne Quast, 35, was apprehended on August 30 after allegedly stealing two double packs of power tool batteries worth around $580 from a store in Monticello, according to a criminal complaint obtained by The Watch MN.
A store employee reportedly recognized the Saint Cloud native from an alleged theft that occurred two days earlier and contacted the police.
Quast reportedly admitted to taking the battery packs and was booked on a gross misdemeanor theft charge.
However, it was the mugshot taken by the Wright County Sheriff’s Office that has drawn attention far beyond Minnesota.
After Quast’s mugshot circulated online, X users pointed out what they believed was a striking resemblance to Jennifer Lopez.
"For a moment I thought it was jlo lmao," one person wrote, while a second joked: "She actually looks more Jennifer Lopez than Jennifer Lopez."
Others mentioned the 57-year-old's 2002 hit 'Jenny from the Block,' WRITING: "Jenny From The Cell Block."
One commenter even exclaimed: "JENNIFER IF YOU DONT COME CLAIM YOUR SISTER RIGHT NEEOWWWWWWWW & DO THIS DNA TESTTTT. Do it for us. dis yo sistaaaaa gurlllllllllll."
Quast was reportedly released the day after her August 30 arrest, the Daily Mail reported.
Online records show this was not her first encounter with police, as she had also been arrested for drug possession, DWI, fleeing police, providing false identification, and several traffic infractions.
Quast is not the first person whose booking photo has turned into a viral internet phenomenon.
Charles Dion McDowell became known online as the "wide neck guy" after his 2018 mugshot went viral for his unusually wide neck.
McDowell had been booked into Escambia County Jail in Florida on charges including drug possession and fleeing police.
His sudden online fame eventually led to a collaboration with rapper "Daddy Long Neck" in 2019.
The pair released a rap song called 'Neckst Big Thing,' which garnered more than six million views on YouTube.
McDowell later amassed more than 860,000 Instagram followers, although his legal troubles continued in the years after his viral mugshot.
In a 2019 interview with LADbible, McDowell also addressed speculation that the size of his neck was caused by a medical condition.
"It ain't no medical condition. It was just my neck. I can't figure it out," he said. "I ain't gone to the doctor's or nothing for it. I honestly don't know."
He said his neck had not been as large when he was younger but that he had "grew into it," adding: "My granddad's got a wide neck but his neck ain't like mine."
