Victoria Canal has spoken out after rumors started swirling that she was dating Tom Cruise.
Canal took to social media to address the long-standing rumors about her dating one of Hollywood's biggest stars, Tom Cruise.
The 25-year-old, who is 37 years younger than her alleged new lover, was seemingly bemused over how she became a hot talking point and even made international headlines through media outlets such as Page Six, Daily Mail, and E! Online after photos of the pair at various events started circulating online.
A source even told The Sun that Canal was invited to the set of Cruise's Mission: Impossible 8 movie stating: "Tom invited Victoria to watch him film for the whole day and that is just not something he does for his random friends. It might have seemed unlikely that they would become anything more than friends but they are pretty much inseparable.
"They have been seeing a lot of one another and Victoria is beautiful. It’s all been happening in plain sight," they added.
Taking to Instagram, the singer-songwriter posted a selfie of herself with a hand clasped over her mouth in shock as well as a series of screenshots from some of the outlets alongside a lengthy message for her followers - and she shut down those claims real quick.
"Guys, this is literally bonkers, but apparently the tabloids think I am dating Tom Cruise. I’m deceased," she said in true Gen Z fashion.
She continued: "Let’s just stop this in its tracks - I’m sorry to bum u [sic] out but I am not dating the man, albeit a lovely person & artist. ...Never thought I would have to clarify that out loud in my life. Y’all."
The star then went on to call out Page Six for using a not-so-flattering image of her before going on to get serious.
"In all seriousness guys, tom has been nothing but a respectful and encouraging person and mentor, much like Chris Martin, my dad, my music teachers, and other wise people that have learned a lot from living," she said. "And again, I am friends with all kinds of people who are very different to me. You learn a lot if you're open to life bringing you those teachers."
She concluded the post with a shameless - but totally understandable - plug to her upcoming tour and her newly-released music.
