Stedman Pearson dies at 60

​Stedman Pearson, a prominent member of the British pop and R&B group Five Star, has passed away at the age of 60, per The Daily Mail.

He gained fame in the 1980s alongside his siblings in the group formed by their father, Buster Pearson, aiming to emulate the success of The Jackson 5. ​

Five Star achieved several chart-topping hits, including 'System Addict,' 'Can't Wait Another Minute' and 'Rain or Shine.'

In 1987, they won the Brit Award for Best British Group. The group was renowned for their synchronized dance routines and glamorous matching costumes, many of which were designed by Stedman, reflecting his background in dance and fashion. ​

After Five Star disbanded in 1995, Stedman continued to perform with his sisters until 2006, with a final reunion in 2012.

He diversified his career by managing a limousine hire service, working as a dance teacher, and making appearances on television shows such as Channel 5's All Star Talent Show in 2006 and BBC's Celebrity Scissorhands in 2008. His Twitter bio indicates he was a solo recording artist and remained active in the fashion industry. ​

Fans and friends have expressed their condolences and shared fond memories on social media.

One individual recalled, "Sad to hear that lovely Stedman Pearson has passed away. I knew Stedman in the noughties when he would often come down to Heaven where I DJ'd. He was such a sweet gentle person and always used to smell divine."

Another tribute read, "R.I.P Stedman Pearson aka Five Star, my beautiful friend. I'll always remember the laughter we shared and ... dream you made reality." ​

A third person wrote: "Woke up to learn of my friends passing...... HE was one of the gentlest and lovely people I knew.. an awesome dancer with just a childlike zest for life.... you made a huge difference to my life and will be missed muchly !!!"

Finally, this person penned: "This week i received the sad news that Stedman Pearson, the eldest of the famous Five Star eighties/nineties family quintet, has passed. I got to know him very well over 14 years, before being entrusted with his unpublished biography which was completed recently. RIP Sted."

Stedman Pearson's contributions to the music and fashion industries, along with his vibrant performances, have left a lasting impression on fans and colleagues alike. His legacy continues to inspire and influence future generations in the entertainment world.
