Taylor Swift has been criticized after it was revealed that she walked down the aisle to an "obnoxious" song.
The 36-year-old Grammy-winning singer married NFL star Travis Kelce on Friday (July 3) at New York City's Madison Square Garden.
At around 7:30PM, LED signs outside the iconic venue displayed the text "JUST&T MARRIED!" in reference to their first initials.
The ceremony had a star-studded guest list, which included Gigi Hadid and Bradley Cooper, Dakota Johnson, Ed Sheeran, and Hugh Grant, and was officiated by Adam Sandler.
Neither the 'Cruel Summer' singer nor her guests have publicly shared details from the ceremony.
Attendees reportedly arrived and left in blacked-out SUVs through an underground entrance, and were also required to sign non-disclosure agreements, making it almost impossible for details from inside the venue to emerge.
However, one detail that has surfaced is that Swift reportedly walked down the aisle to a string rendition of her 2008 hit 'Love Story' - and not everyone was impressed.
"Walk down the aisle to her own music ?!?! Lol, how obnoxious," one wrote on X, while another posted: "it’s not just corny and tacky to walk down the aisle to one of your own songs it’s also narcissistic as f***."
"Honestly the tackiest thing about that wedding is the use of her own music and lyrics - self-referencing feels like teen behavior. truly how can your stance on love be limited to only what YOU have said about it?" a third slammed.
The song was a single from the album Fearless, which went on to spend 35 weeks at number one on the charts.
Long before the wedding, Kelce had already spoken publicly about what songs he loves from Swift's catalog.
The 36-year-old star said on the Bussin’ With the Boys podcast in 2024: "I really started listening to Taylor’s music when she came out with 1989. I knew who she was before that - we were the same age, so through high school and everything, I knew who Taylor was as she was getting her career started - but I think 1989 was where it really started to go crazy.
"So I’m going to say 'Blank Space', because that was like the first," he added.
A representative for the Grammy-winning singer told People that both Swift and Kelce wore Christian Dior Haute Couture designed by Jonathan Anderson.
The representative also revealed that the couple chose not to have bridesmaids or groomsmen.
Instead, Swift's brother Austin served as her "Man of Honor," while Kelce's brother, retired NFL star Jason Kelce, was his best man.
According to an insider, the newlyweds exchanged emotional vows lasting around 20 minutes each before guests were welcomed into the reception by Swift's mother.
The reception reportedly featured performances from Paul McCartney and Stevie Nicks.

Taylor Swift clapped back mid-interview after a reporter asked a "shockingly offensive" question about Travis Kelce.
The 35-year-old singer and songwriter appeared on BBC Radio 2 to discuss her twelfth studio album, The Life of a Showgirl, which was released on October 3, 2025.
During the interview, the reporter, Scott Mills, asked about the singer's engagement to Kansas City Chiefs tight end, and posed a rather suggestive question: Would this be her last album now that she’s engaged?

"Taylor, don’t tell me this is your last album," Mills slyly asked, to which the Grammy-winning singer, who was taken aback, quickly responded: “What? No…”
The interviewer then explained that some fans had speculated that marriage and motherhood would mark the end of her career. “I just saw some fans going, ‘Well, she’s going to get married and then she’s going to have children and [so this is] going to be the last album,’” he said.
In response, Swift called the idea “a shockingly offensive thing to say” and dismissed the notion that marriage would force her to quit making music. “That’s not why people get married - so they can quit their job,” she laughed. “It’s also, like, music for me…”
The 'Karma' singer then continued by emphasizing how supportive her beau is of her career. “I love the person that I am with because he loves what I do, and he loves how much I am fulfilled by making art and making music,” she said. “That’s the coolest thing about Travis. He is so passionate about what he does that me being passionate about what I do… it connects us.”
Swift also addressed a question that has been circulating in the press: whether her personal happiness might be detrimental to her creative output.
While some critics have suggested that artists must experience pain to produce great art, the musician's recent work has been praised as a significant departure from the darker tones of her last album, Tortured Poets Department.
“The cool thing about Showgirl is that I’m in a very similar space in my life as when I wrote it and now that I’m putting it out - which is nice when those things are not incongruent,” Swift explained. “The last record, I was in such a different place when I wrote it - just miserable. And then when I put it out, I was so happy. So it feels weird to talk about the record because it’s like, you can be proud of the work, but you can also just not relate to that person you were.”
Swift’s new album was released last week to massive success, shattering her own sales record. The album sold 2.7 million copies on its first day, positioning it to become the best-selling album in a single week of all time.
The 'Cruel Summer' songstress opened up about how she managed to keep the album under wraps despite traveling between Sweden and the US during her Eras tour.
“My friends don’t rat,” she said, praising her circle of trusted confidants. “They do not rat. And you can tell by the amount of stories about me that are out there that are absolutely not true because all of my friends - all of my friends - had heard music [from the new album] a year ago. They know what’s going on with me. They do not snitch. It is phenomenal.”
In addition to discussing her latest album, Swift has opened up about why she turned down the Super Bowl halftime show in an appearance on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon.
She clarified that her decision had everything to do with her deep emotional investment in Kelce’s career. “I am in love with a guy who does that sport on that actual field,” Swift explained. She described watching Kelce’s games as "emotionally intense," adding, “That is violent chess. That is gladiators without swords. That is dangerous.”
Swift also emphasized that Kelce would fully support her taking the halftime stage, but the reason she turned down the offer was that she’s too focused on him during the season.
“Can you imagine if he's out there every single week putting his life on the line, doing this very dangerous, very high-pressure, high-intensity sport, and I'm like, 'I wonder what my choreo should be…’” she laughed. “This is nothing to do with Travis, he would love for me to do it. I’m just too locked in.”

Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce are officially married - and all eyes are on what the bride wore when she walked down the aisle at Madison Square Garden.
The couple, both 36, shut down New York's most iconic venue for their nuptials, which took place on Friday, July 3.
Their wedding had been months in the making, with fans given only small glimpses of the decorations as they were loaded into MSG ahead of the big event.
While several AI images of Taylor in a wedding dress quickly circulated the internet, no official photos have yet been released of the bride and groom.
However, details of her wedding dress have been shared, with a representative for the singer confirming she and Travis were both wearing Christian Dior Haute Couture.
The rep told Page Six that the newlyweds' outfits were designed by the French fashion house’s new creative director Jonathan Anderson “in close collaboration” with Taylor and Travis.
Both outfits were made in Dior's ateliers at 30 Avenue Montaigne in Paris, and this is Anderson's first couture bridal gown for a major celebrity.
Dior had reportedly won against some stiff competition in the form of Ralph Lauren, Stella McCartney, Oscar de la Renta, and Vivienne Westwood, to be chosen to design Taylor's wedding dress.
According to TMZ's sources, Taylor's dress was described as a "long gown with a train".
The couple's footwear was no less lavish, as both Taylor and her NFL star husband wore custom-made Christian Louboutin shoes, while Taylor's jewelry was from Cartier.
The Grammy Award winner's stunning engagement ring is a custom old mine ring made by Artifex Fine Jewelry’s Kindred Lubeck, who worked with Travis to design it.
The big day was dubbed the wedding of the century, with 1,000 people in attendance, including Taylor and Travis's family and friends, as well as a host of A-list guests.
The pair opted not to have bridesmaids or groomsmen, but instead had their brothers joining them, with Tay's brother Austin serving as her man of honor, while Travis's brother Jason was his best man.
Jason and his wife Kylie's children also reportedly served as flower girls, who threw petals at Taylor's feet as she walked down the aisle.
The ceremony was officiated by comedian and actor Adam Sandler, who reportedly sang a "humorous yet touching" original song he had written about the couple and their love, according to TMZ.
Food for the event was reportedly catered by Zero Bond, one of Taylor's favorite places to eat in New York, which she visited just a couple of weeks ago to celebrate the Knicks' Game 4 win in the NBA Finals.
Guests were also reportedly able to enjoy "carnival-like games" after the venue was transformed, with insiders comparing the decor to "Alice in Wonderland meets The Wizard of Oz", with a greenhouse and garden built for the day.
Now, fans are eagerly awaiting the first official photos of Taylor and Travis as a married couple.

Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce have announced that they are engaged.
The 35-year-old singer and the 35-year-old Kansas City Chiefs tight end shared the news on Tuesday (August 26) in a joint Instagram post, which read: “Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married."
In the first picture, Kelce is shown on bended knee below Swift, who is donning a striped dress and standing under an elaborate floral arch. A later photo shows the 'Love Story' singer sporting a large ring.
The happy news follows the couple's two-year relationship, which began in July 2023, during the early months of Swift’s record-breaking Eras Tour.
At the time, the NFL star revealed on his New Heights podcast that he had tried, and failed, to pass along his phone number to Swift on a friendship bracelet, a fan-favorite accessory at her shows.
“I was disappointed that she doesn’t talk before or after her shows because she has to save her voice for the 44 songs she sings,” Kelce told his brother, Jason, on the podcast.
“If you’re up on Taylor Swift concerts, there are friendship bracelets and I had received a bunch of them, but I wanted to give Taylor Swift one with my number on it," he added.
The bold admission caught Swift’s attention, and the pair soon connected privately. By September 2023, they had made their relationship public when 'Cruel Summer' superstar artist was spotted cheering from a suite at Arrowhead Stadium as the Chiefs faced off against the Chicago Bears.
Since then, the couple has become a fixture in both sports and entertainment headlines, with Swift regularly attending Chiefs games and Kelce traveling internationally to support her tour.
Congratulations to Swift and Kelce!

Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce finally made it official in a huge wedding ceremony at Madison Square Garden on Friday night (July 3).
Arguably the biggest pop star in the world tied the knot with the NFL star in a ceremony littered with celebrity guests, with comedian Adam Sandler officiating.
The newlyweds wore Christian Dior, according to Swift's publicist, and decided not to have bridesmaids and groomsmen.
Instead, Swift's brother Austin Swift served as her man of honor, while Kelce chose his brother, former NFL star Jason Kelce, to be his best man.
Around 7:30PM local time on Friday, LED signs outside the venue displayed text that read “JUST&T MARRIED!”
The “T&T” part represents their first initials, which were also on guest merchandise for the event.
Roads in the area were shut for one of the biggest celebrity events of the century, as Manhattan came to a standstill for the stars.
Speaking to The Independent, Swift's representative Tree Paine said: “The bride and groom’s wedding ceremony looks have been created by Christian Dior Haute Couture.
“They are designed by Jonathan Anderson, Creative Director of Dior Women’s, Men’s and Haute Couture Collections, in close collaboration with the Bride and Groom.
“This is the designer's first couture wedding dress for a world-renowned celebrity. Their shoes were custom-made by Christian Louboutin and the bride wore Cartier jewelry,” the statement read.
Unsurprisingly, a number of blacked-out SUVs were deployed to allow guests to shield themselves from any photographers or fans waiting to get a glimpse.
Streets in Midtown Manhattan were closed in preparation, as crews at the arena set up curtains and gazebos for the celebration.
Some of the celebs spotted around the venue include actors Hugh Grant and Jason Sudeikis, singer Benson Boone, and model Gigi Hadid, who wore a sparkly pink dress.
Actress Dakota Johnson was also pictured, while numerous members of Kelce's football team could be seen, though they arrived at the wedding in plain view while many other guests chose to exit under the enormous tent erected for privacy reasons.
TV presenter Graham Norton, who was famously invited to the wedding when Swift was a guest on his talk show, was also seen arriving at the wedding.
Fans huddled outside the venue on Friday, with many wearing concert merch while belting out Swift tunes, as others climbed scaffolding in an attempt to get a better view of celebrations.
The wedding celebrations began on Thursday (July 2) in a far smaller event, with a reported 100 people believed to have been present.
A permit with New York officials has been made public, calling the event a "pre-party."
The following day, a far larger event was held, with police presence on the heavier side while temperatures reached 37C (98.6F) in New York.
The NYPD closed streets off to vehicles and pedestrian traffic around the arena around midday.
Despite the curtains and tents put up to shield guests from paparazzi and fans, many managed to get snaps of celebrity guests arriving at the arena.

Travis Kelce’s friend has revealed a strict rule that the NFL star and his wife Taylor Swift have ahead of their upcoming mega-weddings.
The Kansas City Chiefs star is set to marry Swift, one of the world’s biggest and most popular musicians, in a huge ceremony in the relatively near future, and speculation has turned to the venue, the guest list, and the events of the day itself.
According to reports, the wedding of the year will take place at Madison Square Garden in New York, fit for around 1,000 guests.
The guest list is expected to include people such as Selena Gomez and her new husband, Benny Blanco, Cara Delevingne, Swift’s famous friend Ed Sheeran and even her famous ex Robert Pattinson.
Also on the guest list is NFL star George Kittle, and he is the one who revealed one very specific rule that the couple have put in place ahead of the big day.
The San Francisco 49ers tight end, who will attend the wedding with his wife Claire, said that the happy couple have specifically said that no guests are to bring gifts.
When he was pressed on what he’d be bringing, Kittle said: “They said absolutely no gifts.”
It makes sense when you think about it - what do you buy the couple that already has everything?
However, Kittle is still going to bring something along for his fellow football star.
He added: “But I was thinking Travis, for some reason, likes old coins so I might get him one of those.”
Then, when pressed for a message for the couple ahead of their nuptials, he said: “Just have so much fun with all your friends.”
The truth is, we aren’t quite sure yet - but we have some ideas.
It is expected that the pair will marry at Madison Square Gardens over the Fourth of July weekend, and a statement from the mayor’s office in New York said that a permit was filed in early June asking for road closures from July 2 to July 4 around the venue.
It has also been reported that many of Kelce’s Chiefs teammates had booked hotels in the nearby area for that same period.
It seems as if there might be a number of events planned, with some rumors suggesting that there will be a smaller event on July 2, followed by a massive party on July 3, with rumored music performances as well.
There have also been suggestions that this venue could all be a decoy, and that Swift may actually be having her big wedding elsewhere, but this would be a lot of effort for that.
Taylor Swift podcaster Nicki Vleisides told BBC News: "MSG is where music and sports come together at the most famous venue in the world,
"The more I've thought about it, it kind of seems like the perfect choice for both Taylor and Travis and their respective industries."
His podcast co-host Andie Furber added: "No drones or paparazzi can get in or out, and Taylor, Travis and guests can enter underground from blocks away with no chance of getting photographed.”
