Taylor Swift isn't the only famous person in her family, as it turns out that she's actually related to the poet Emily Dickinson.
Quite apt given Swift's new album name.
Genealogy giant Ancestry.com unveiled the fascinating news to NBC's Today and has really added a new layer to Swift's artistic legacy.
Yes, the The Tortured Poets Department singer and the Dickinson are distant relatives, and according to her fans, it finally all makes sense why Swift is the lyrical genius she is.

Swift's ninth great-grandfather and Dickinson's sixth great-grandfather, both early settlers of Windsor, Connecticut, serve as the familial link between the two icons.
The singer's ancestors "remained in Connecticut for six generations until her part of the family eventually settled in north-western Pennsylvania, where they married into the Swift family line."
Despite living in vastly different eras and pursuing distinct art forms, Dickinson and Swift are revealed to be sixth cousins, three times removed.
Dickinson, born in 1830 in Amherst, Massachusetts, remains a towering figure in American poetry, known for her reclusive lifestyle and posthumous acclaim.
Swift's admiration for Dickinson's literary prowess is no secret. During her acceptance speech for the Songwriter-Artist of the Decade award from the Nashville Songwriters Association International in 2022, Swift said: "If my lyrics sound like a letter written by Emily Dickinson’s great-grandmother while sewing a lace curtain, that’s me writing in the quill genre."

Swift's new album slated for release in April is called The Tortured Poets Department, which seems very fitting given this recent revelation.
Fans offered their reaction to the surprising news, with one person saying: "taylor swift being related to emily dickinson one of the best poet of the 19th century makes so much sense to me."
A second person said: "I’m never shutting up about the fact that taylor swift and emily dickinson are related. it’s gonna be my roman empire FOREVERMORE."
Others added: "TAYLOR SWIFT IS RELATED TO EMILY DICKINSON NOW IT ALL MAKES SENSE OMG TWO QUEENS," and: "taylor swift being related to emily dickinson makes so much sense like their pen games are unmatched."
It's no surprise that Swift is from a talented family - so talented in fact, that people consider missing life-saving surgery to see her show.
For Tamara Gray, a devoted Swift fan and mother from Queensland, attending the pop sensation's Eras Tour concert in Sydney was a long-anticipated dream.
However, her journey to the concert took an unexpected turn when a life-changing phone call altered her plans.

Gray, who had been battling IgA nephropathy, an autoimmune kidney disease requiring extensive dialysis, had been on the waiting list for a kidney transplant. Despite the demanding treatment regimen consuming 15 hours of her week, she had resigned herself to the possibility that a suitable donor might never be found.
But as Gray was en route to Gold Coast Airport for her delayed flight to Sydney, she received a call from the hospital just after 8:30AM - 10 minutes after her original departure time.
"The hospital said they had a kidney," Gray said, admitting that, even in that pivotal moment, she briefly hesitated before accepting the life-saving organ. "I won't lie, there was a split second that I considered saying no [to the kidney], but, you know, I'm not crazy."
