Timothee Chalamet reveals revolting prank Matthew McConaughey played on him on 'Interstellar' set
Timothee Chalamet has opened up about a revolting prank Matthew McConaughey once played on him while they were starring in Interstellar together.
Back in 2014, Timothee - now 30 - starred alongside Matthew, 56, in the Christopher Nolan epic, set in a dystopian future where a group of astronauts set out through space to find a new home for humanity after Earth suffers from catastrophic blight and famine.
And if the premise of that is not bleak enough, the 'gift' Timothee found in his trailer on the last day of filming was even worse.
Speaking to CNN and Variety during a joint interview with Matthew, Timothee revealed he was initially feeling quite emotional about filming coming to an end.
However, things were soon to change when he returned to his trailer to find someone had done a "huge turd" in his toilet and left it there for him to find.
He admitted: "I felt so disrespected. I was like, ‘Man, I know I’m not the star in this movie, but who [did this?]’”
The Marty Supreme star was so horrified by the log that he'd been left, he went to interrogate the "big guys" on the crew to find out who'd "let it loose” in his trailer.
When he still couldn’t find the mystery pooper, Timothee reached out to the director, who told him that Matthew was the one who did the dirty deed.
"Matthew had this devilish grin on his face,” Timothee revealed. "I said, ‘Why did you do that?’ And he said, ‘It’s a Texas coming of age, baby.’”
Matthew then joked that it was a "souvenir" for Timmy to remember hum by - and it's safe to say, that would be pretty hard to forget...
Despite the ungodly dump, Timothee had only nice things to say about the experience of working with Matthew and how much he learned from him.
Speaking about how "inspiring" it was to make his movie debut at 17 years old alongside an industry veteran like Matthew, Timothee explained: "That movie, to me, is really the origin point in seeing how you carried yourself on set and how seriously you took the work.
"I feel like coming out of high school, it’s hard to take yourself super seriously. It can feel like you’re wasting time,” adding that the movie “changed [his] life.”
The four-time Oscar nominee humbly added: "I can’t thank you enough for being warm to me at that time. You had no reason to be warm to me."
The toilet incident aside, that is a very heartwarming tale.
