Travis Kelce is set to tie the knot with Taylor Swift, but there was once a time when he chose another celebrity over her.
In case you missed the news about what will probably be America's version of a Royal wedding, let's get you up to speed.
On August 26, Swift and Kelce sent the internet into overdrive when they shared a joint Instagram post announcing their engagement.
In the first picture, Kelce is on one knee in front of the global superstar, who is donning a striped dress and standing under an elaborate floral arch.
Then, of course, there is a picture where Swift is showing off her new engagement ring.
They captioned the post: "Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married."
But despite Kelce marrying one of the biggest names on the planet, there was once a time when he opted for someone else.
In 2016, the NFL star took part in a video with AfterBuzz TV, where he played a classic game of "Kiss, Marry, Kill."
If you're unfamiliar with the game, the premise is simple: You are given three names and you have to choose which one to kiss, which one to marry, and which one to kill.
Well, Kelce got the options of Taylor Swift, Katy Perry, and Ariana Grande.
"Damn, that's messed up. I don't wanna kill any of them," he said before making his choices.
"Kill Ariana, unfortunately," he continued. "Love you, but you're gone."
Then came the kicker: "Taylor to kiss and… what was the last one? Katy Perry would be to marry."
Of course, it’s no secret that Perry and Swift have a complicated past. The two pop stars famously had a falling out years ago, with Swift even writing the hit song 'Bad Blood' in response to their feud.
The dispute reportedly began when Perry allegedly attempted to hire several of Swift's backup dancers, which Swift claimed was an attempt to sabotage her tour.
However, their relationship appears to have healed over time. In January 2023, Perry publicly gushed about seeing Swift during her concert in Sydney, Australia, revealing, "I got to see her and we got to catch up and I love her so much."
Kelce and Swift's relationship began in 2023 after he attended one of her Eras Tour shows.
From there, the couple's relationship blossomed publicly, with Swift frequently attending Kansas City Chiefs games to cheer for Kelce.
In return, Kelce traveled internationally to support her on tour.
When Swift was spotted at a college football game in Kansas City on August 28, 2025, fans got their first clear look at the stunning engagement ring.
The massive diamond, which reportedly cost Kelce between $700,000 and $1,000,000, sparkled as Swift raised her drink, offering a close-up shot for the cameras.
