As we get older, so do our favorite celebrities, their noteworthy projects fading from the cultural consciousness. A new generation rises, with their own beloved stars, and sometimes they're hilariously ignorant about older icons.
To the young generation, Robert De Niro is that guy from Meet The Fockers, Meryl Streep is that lady from The Devil Wears Prada and Paul McCartney is that guy who played guitar on Kanye West's Only One. (Nice to see Yeezy give a struggling musician a break!)
But be warned, young people, with your Human Ubers and glitter pumpkin butts and urine therapy: If you disrespect some famous actors, the backlash will be swift!
Sandra Bullock, the Oscar-winning actress who starred in Speed, The Proposal and The Blind Side, can currently be seen in the post-apocalyptic Netflix thriller Bird Box. Here's the synopsis according to IMDB: "Five years after an ominous unseen presence drives most of society to suicide, a mother and her two children make a desperate bid to reach safety."
It sounds pretty suspenseful, but the real shock came on social media. One Twitter user shared a photo of Sandra Bullock and Michael Jackson, writing, "The lady from bird box looks like MJ."
People were outraged by the blasphemous tweet, and not just because it appeared to mock the Hollywood legend's appearance. After acting in movies for three decades, Sandra Bullock is now "the lady from Bird Box"?!
How dare you treat her that way?! She won Miss Congeniality! Her identity got stolen in The Net! She stopped a boat from crashing in Speed 2: Cruise Control! And there are probably better movies she starred in that I can't remember! To paraphrase the rapper/producer Birdman, put some respek on her name!
Twitter users flooded the disrespectful charlatan with furious words and dank memes.
"The lady from Bird Box" has a net worth of $200 million, for your information, @aaron_delara! And look at how many awards the 54-year-actress has won:
2010: Academy Award for Best Actress, and Golden Globe Award for Best Actress, for playing Leigh Anne Tuohy in The Blind Side.
Also 2010: MTV Award for Best Kiss, shared with Ryan Reynolds in The Proposal.
2005: Screen Actor's Guild Award, for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture, for Crash
1995: MTV Movie Award for Most Desirable Female, for playing Annie Potts in Speed, and yes this was was a real category in the 90's, lol
And let's not forget this achievement: In 2015, People magazine named Sandra Bullock the 'Most Beautiful Woman.' How beautiful are you, @aaron_delara?!
Oh, well. You can’t get too mad at the young generation for not recognizing Sandra Bullock. As they say, what goes around comes around. One day they'll be old too, and get replaced by a new generation that doesn't recognize their icons: Pewdiepie. Logan Paul and Lil' Tay.
